College hoops and Obama: Not a good mix

Ya gotta pity Obama somewhat these days. If you're not ticking the folks off over heath care and school lessons for the kiddos, you can't even get a basketball jersey without angering a legion of loyal (if not wacky) basketball fans.

Newly minted University of Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari (no stranger to controversy himself) sent Obama a UK basketball jersey.

It seems like the loyal Wildcat fans didn't take too kindly to this gesture, causing an uproar across the Bluegrass State (home to leading health care opponent Sen. Mitch McConnell).

A blog by Lexington Herald-Leader UK beat writer Jerry Tipton is reporting this little flare up. It seems Calipari (a big hit with twitter followers) had to take to his Facebook page to defend the action. It was somewhat reminiscent of UNC coach Roy Williams letting Obama scrimmage with the Tarheels last year.
