The irony of the Right Wing outrage over President Obama's speech to schoolchildren..
is that these parents are teaching their children to distrust an authority figure. That's often the first step on the road to becoming a liberal. Maybe some of these kids who are being taught not to respect the leader of the free world will start questioning their parents' authority, too.

1. Reagan & Both Bush's Addressed School Kids
Imagine what the reaction would have been from the far right media if Dems openly insulted them as the right is doing to President Obama today.

2. no problem with distrust of authority, but perhaps he should have read a story about goats instead..
they're apparently ok with that, especially when it is enthralling enough to ignore fairly large events going on around you.

4. There's more deeply wrong here...
When I was growing up, JFK's Inaugural Speech was our
call to diligent service:

"Ask not what your country can do for you,
ask what you can do for your country."

Obama asked the children to tell him how they could help...

And this was jettisoned from the speech...due to the tantrums of
the narrow right.

The people who have forgotten their past
are destined to repeat it.. Geo. Santayana

6. Well of course they will, they will you tube it as well
The fact that parents said "no" will make it all the more enticing.

And then they'll see a black man who is very smart and educated and successful telling them to stay in school. They will either be inspired or bored. And they'll probably wonder what all the fuss is about.

It's to bad the media keeps blowing up these small incidents into big deals. The people doing this are a minority.
