Look at this shit..
Edited on Fri Sep-04-09 09:59 PM by t0dd
A Democratic source close to the process told CNN Friday that the White House was very conscious of the potential congressional fallout: "How do you (get the deal passed) without a revolt in the House? It can be done, but very delicately."

The bottom line, said the source, is that the president would have to "move to the center" on the issue eventually, "and it's not a bad thing to have liberals screaming at him." That development will help sell the deal to Americans and "convince them it's a good, moderate deal, if liberals are mad."

Fuck that. It isn't the left of the left that want a public option, that want real reform, it's the fucking American people!!!!!

of unnamed sources who claim to be close to the process.

20. Seriously, when it comes to triangulating against one's own base,
Clinton was a rank amateur compared to Obama.

21. I do believe that THIS time our party leaders have grossly underestimated
the anger of progressives, as well as others who believe we need the public option.

23. I'm amazed that so many people here are expressing their anger over it.
I figured the loyalty enforcers had browbeaten everyone into silence, but people are standing on their hind legs now--and the bullies are getting panicky.

30. Well, none of this is really surprising for some of us.
He began his campaign by triangulating against the GLBT members of the party. That turned out to be a sign of things to come, even though people's concerns over it were dismissed with lots of snide talk about poutrage and ponies.

Looks like we're all queers now.

3. I'm gonna hope that that quote is just a joke -
and that some jokester is putting it out.

Because, if it's true - if it's true - we've been used and thrown away, as disposable as Kleenex. It means Obama has turned his back on everyone who worked so hard to get him elected, and that he's somehow thinking we'll stand by him no matter what he does, and work for his re-election in 2012.

I cannot believe this. I really can't.

Except I can, and that's why my heart is breaking.

Next week is going to suck, I just know it.........................

4. The problem with that logic is that the majority of Americans want a public option.
What the bill does will be the main issue for them.

5. I heard the same and it annoys me!
I heard pretty the same tonight and it annoys me! I voted for and want real change, not some type of wishy washy deal that doesn't accomplish meaningful reform. I thought we had real change coming, but so far it seems lukewarm. I hope he gets a grip on all of this next week when he addresses congress, but I'm concerned it's going to be just more talk and talk with no real health care reform... or some type of extremely compromised solution that we're not much better than we were in the US for health care.

I'm also sadly starting to think Obama is a one term president. I'm wondering how we will end up in 2012. There are some pretty bizarre republicans that well might run. Having watched this country vote in Bush twice, I have concerns about what 2012 might bring if we have to endure a republican presidency.

13. CNN, the network DUers knew better than to trust during the bush debacle are...
suddenly trustworthy? Why do some DUers now go all apeshit over something by CNN? Hello, nothing has changed with CNN from the bush times to now. They are still the liars they were.

Mindboggling, absolutely mindboggling.

14. "Cool, Cool Considerate Men" (from "1776")
http://www.allmusicals.com/lyrics/1776/coolcoolconsideratemen.htm

Come ye cool cool considerate set
We'll dance together to the same minuet
To the right, ever to the right
Never to the left, forever to the right
May our creed be never to exceed
Regulated speed, no matter what the need...

To the right, ever to the right
Never to the left, forever to the right
We have gold, a market that will hold
Tradition that is old, a reluctance to be bold....

Come ye cool cool considerate men
The likes of which may never be seen again
With our land, cash in hand
Self-command, future planned
And we'll hold to our gold
Tradition that is old, reluctant to be bold.
We say this game's not of our choosing
Why should we risk losing?
