Anyone noticed lately how reasonable Bill O'Reilly sounds?
He was just sticking up for Obama speaking to school children, and encouraging them to do their best.

Of course, he related Birthers and the crazy-right folk to the "crazy Bush haters," but next to Glenn Beck, he seems reasonable.

I never thought I would say that . .

1. Ooh that is scary.
I guess he wants to separate himself from the crazy. Keith Olbermann's comment on Glenn Beck yesterday was CLASSIC. I was laughing so hard I almost choked.

2. O'Reilly is weird
He sometimes has these weird spells of sanity. He also tends to be relatively fair during presidential elections. He defended Kerry against the Swiftboaters, for example.

Still an asshole and a blowhard.

5. Here's a link to an article O'Reilly wrote. It was in
Parade Magazine on 8/9/09 and may explain why he's sticking up for Obama.

6. I have heard......
that there is no love lost between O'Reilly and Murdoch. Maybe O'Reilly's contract is expiring?
If O'Reilly wants a job anywhere that Murdoch does not control, he has to play nice. Too late in my mind.

9. then again........
I guess not (re contract). O'Reilly signed up for several more years at FAUX at $10 million a year.
But it does seem true that Murdoch and O'Reilly cannot stand each other.

12. Glenn Beck makes Bill O'Reilly sound left wing!
I can't stand either of them, but at minimal O'Reilly sometimes sounds rationale. Beck always sounds deranged.

13. During the campaign Obama did an interview with him
Edited on Fri Sep-04-09 11:16 PM by gopsucks1
This is why I keep saying don't for a second underestimate Obama. He knows how to deal with people. I have studied this quite a bit as part of some training I took. People are much more open to your ideas if you simply listen and make an effort to understand their point of view. Bill was a major asshole for that interview as expect but Obama stuck it out and afterwards Bill seem genuinely impressed. I think that is why he has not tried to demonize him. A smart politician like Obama knows that it is MUCH much harder to have irrational hate for someone after you meet them face to face and realize they are a real human being. It's all about human nature and things we do subconsiously.

You can definitely notice a difference between the critics that have met Obama and spent time with him person to person compared to the ones that have not.

15. Bill.........
I often suspect he has genuine respect for Obama. Many times I have heard him defend him in one area or another. He does try to be fair with him. I have also seen him say not very flattering things about Bush. All in all I think he tries to be fair.

24. He saw the migration of sponsors leaving Beck, so maybe he has dialed back
on the real crazy shit. Let's face it, nobody does crazy like Beck. Why even try to compete?

If Beck gets canned, here's his replacement.

Here he is raising an objection at a recent town hall.

He at least has a faint grasp on reality.
