Obama School Speech "Controversy" Shows There Is Brainwashing...By The Corporate Right Wing!
This "controversy" and the laughable willingness of the media to promote and politicize and innocuous speech, and give crazies a forum to spead their extreme political views regarding the President just underscores just how our media is dominated by the corporate right wing. For months, we have had the media spread rumors about health care reform in an uncritical manner. We have also had the media spread false rumors about the President's place of birth. Now, we have the school speech "controversy." This is absolutely outrageous that parents, the Republican Party, and the media would push the idea that it is somehow wrong for students to hear from the President of the United States on something as innocuous as staying in school and working hard. Where is the shame in ignoring prior speeches by Reagan to students pushing tax cuts and Bush the first pushing his education agenda?

The fact that this "controvery" appears on the front page of most online news sources is just shameful, and is an absoulte indictment of our media that such tripe has legs. Corporate censorship is alive and well, and our democracy continues to suffer as a result.

3. The fact that people are defending a system that cuts care to meet its 20-30% overhead is proof
positive that some people have gone insane.

5. The Fact That These False Rumors Continue To Be Spread Shows Why A Diverse Media Is Needed
The fact that these stories and rumors somehow continued to make news even though they are demonstrably false, just underscores the degree to which the corporate media acts as a propaganda service for the right wing:

1. Candidate Obama is a Muslim.
2. Candidate Obama pals around with terrorists.
3. President Obama was born in Indonesia, and is not eligible to be President.
4. Health care reform will involve euthanasia of seniors.
5. President Obama's school speech is brainswashing.

While this goes on, most media ignores the stories that are right there in front of them:

1. A lot of anti-healthcare reform protests are funded by and organized by corporate interests.
2. A lot of townhall meetings on healthcare are actually quite civil.
3. Healthcare is currently rationed by private insurance companies.
4. The U.S. is #1 in per capita healthcare costs and percentage of GDP devoted to healthcare costs without any appreciable benefit.

The basic facts and truth are notoriously difficult to find through the corporate media filter.

4. The far right is trying to incite the Obama administration to strike back.
I don't think it will happen. They are wasting their time.
