we need to know the politics of everyone who speaks to our school kids |
|
....if kids can opt out because the president is speaking and it's because of his politics,
kids should also be able to opt out if they disagree with their principals politics
or their teachers politics
or the fireman who comes to school to speak
you can't single out the president
unless it's not about politics.....

1. You may have a point--the most common way of political views |
|
being foisted onto kids (aside from parents, of course) is from teachers, coaches, etc. who can't keep their mouths shut. Can't tell ya how many times my sons came home and reported the right wing slant their teachers (small-town Nebraska) put onto current events and history.

2. I'm not a huge fan of tenure, but now I see why it was invented |

(edited to add text below in clarification to small town Nebraska)
I had the opposite experience in high school in Tennessee where my economics teacher was very left-leaning (w/o tenure, he'd'a been canned like old tuna.)
Talk to you kids, early and often, about politics... otherwise they'll learn it from Fox News.
