2 Radio Towers in Washington State Toppled
http://www.comcast.net/articles/news-national/20090904/US.Radio.Tower.Toppled/

SEATTLE — Two radio station towers near Seattle that have generated intense local opposition were toppled early Friday in an act of sabotage that bore the initials of the radical Earth Liberation Front.

What amazes me about this isn't the fact that it happened, but rather the fact that the article doesn't use the word "terrorist" to describe the vandalism. Isn't that how actions by the ELF are typically characterized?

6. And They're Already Back On The Air...
Been there, seen that. Back in the 60's, several radio stations had their antennas pulled down...some were even dynamited. The sin? Playing that evil Rock' n Roll.

While I wouldn't mind seeing a bunch of stations (especially those owned by Salem) go silent, this sure isn't the way to do it. First of all, the person who did the deed (and good chance he/she will be caught) will face some stiff federal charges and for what? It doesn't take much to string up an emergency antenna or arrange to use someone elses. Insurance will pick up the cost of replacement. In the end, the station will be back to normal noise in a matter of weeks.

ELF thinks this will get them support? Not by the folks in the area who depend on that station for weather or emergency information. A waste of time and effort.

7. using a track hoe? who ever did this is an idiot.
elf is`t going to win anyone over to their cause by destroying property and possibly causing injury or death. they think that the means justifies the ends.

8. I don't disagree with you
It's much the same as spray-painting a lot full of SUVs. It only makes the ELF look like petty thugs, and it does nothing except generate sympathy for the victims of their crimes.

However, when I opened that article, I really expected to see them called Terrorists, because it had been my impression that Radical Left groups routinely qualify for that descriptor even if Radical Right groups never seem to.
