US = Democrats and those who love them.

I continue to be amazed and amused at the bitching about the media. And that hope that, somehow, for ratings or profit, they'll start to tell our side of things.

Instead, all they do is throw us a bone (MSNBC evenings). The rest of MSNBC's broadcast day and all of the broadcast time everywhere else ranges from right of center to far, far, far right of center. Right of Atilla the Hun, actually.

"Bring back the Fairness Doctrine" is another lament. The fact is, that does almost nothing. All it ever did was tell the teevee stations that if Candidate R said something on teevee, they had to give Candidate D a chance to say something back at him. It does NOTHING to stop the Rush BeckAnnitOreallies of the world. Their spew would continue to flourish, unabated.

See, here's the problem: Media consolidation.

A few motherfuckers who have particular special interests own the whole fucking shooting match. Murdoch is simply the most obvious.

So why do I say this could be our fault?

Because, in addition to everything else we need to stay concerned about, there are those fucked up laws that Reagan started and Clinton continued, and Bush put a ribbon on that allow this shit to happen.

Ya wanna get the media to be more like Cronkite and less like Beck?

Press your congresscritters to break them the fuck up.

What will get bleated in the pushback they'll set up to stop this? No more free teevee? No more Dancing With The Stars? No more Bobby Flay Throwdowns? No more throwing people out of houses and off islands? No more CSI?

Come on ..... gimme a break. They'll squeal like stuck pigs. But it needs to get done.

Imagine what the health care "debate" would have been with HONEST reporting.

3. It's absolutely us.....

When the republicans controlled things we could claim it was just the media (even though that wasn't entirely true even then). But the fact that our side sits by while the right frames the debate, controls the dialogue, and has any number of media savvy politicians, pundits and spokespeople out there all the time pounding the pavement while we sit idly by, sending out our most concilliatory, mealy mouth, moderate dems, all while we control (by fairly large majorities) each branch of government is pathetic.

Our side sucks at being media savvy and they suck at learning lessons.

Yeah we can blame the republicans and the media but the fact is they are doing what they've always done and what we've always known they'll do and still we can't get control of it and get better people out there leading us.

4. If we had been the ones screaming and yelling at town-halls

we would have gotten media attention but we also would have been thrown in jail. I am not sure where I am going with this. Perhaps this proves that it takes more guts to be a liberal.
