Sept. 5: As the Pakistan security forces claimed killing at least 110 militants on Saturday, banned Lashkar-e-Islam (LI), chief Mangal Bagh threatened to come out with "massive retaliation" if the military operation in Bara was not halted.

"This is a warning. The operation should be ended or the government will be responsible for the consequences. We will be joined by Taliban in Bara," Mangal Bagh said.

The military said on Saturday that at least 110 militants were killed by the forces in various lawless tribal areas.

The military said 57 militants were killed, 107 arrested and 54 hideouts destroyed during the ongoing operation in Bara. Officials said 10, 000 detonators, hand grenades, and explosives used in suicide jackets have been recovered.

Also, on Saturday security forces launched an operation in Khyber Agency and killed at least 35 extremists. According to the officials, the security forces pounded various hideouts of extremists in Sandapaal and Gagreena areas of Tirah in Landi Kotal.

Separately, the gunship helicopters of security forces pounded the hideouts of the militants in Orakzai Agency killing 18 militants and destroying 11 suspected hideouts and four vehicles. Bagh’s announcement, baffling many Bara dwellers, was made from the LI’s illegal FM channel on Friday night, the fourth day of the operation.

"We ask the government to stop the operation, which is illegal," said the banned LI chief.

Bagh said his men would allow the Taliban from other areas to enter Bara if the operation was not halted forthwith.
