Huffington Post: Beck gets first Scalp
Glenn Beck has his first scalp. Van Jones, under fire from the extremist television show host for his background in radical activism, has resigned from the administration.

Jones was Special Adviser for Green Jobs at the Council on Environmental Quality - the so-called 'Green Jobs' Czar. Jones' 2008 book, The Green Collar Economy, was a New York Times best-seller. Beck is a talk show host for Fox News.

1. Meanwhile, the Dems and Obama are helpless and silent - what is going on?
I thought the DEMS were in office! What on earth is going on? Why are we behaving like helpless children in the face of these right wing dickwads trashing everything?

3. "Wake up and smell the coffee"
In this particular situation, it should probably be more like: "Wake up and smell the arm-pits!"

5. who the fuck are they afraid of? they take their marching orders from
a blubbery right-wing hysterical and illiterate paranoid-schizophrenic who sounds just like Hilter's Die Entartete Kunst?

yup

Consiglieri President Rahm needs to brush up on his reading and stop appeasing the new Hitler who projects his Nazism on to anti-fascist progressives - you know, they ones who overwhelmingly elected Obama.

6. And???
A minor level advisor gets the ire of the racist wingnuts and steps aside. They're sure to find another and another. Sure beats them putting up a stink about someone of real importance (cause they can't). It's a bright shiny toy for the parallel universe and we should expect this game to play over and over as they find imagined boogie men and women in the administration. It's just who they are.

The racist tone of this feeds right into the hate machine...it's what holds them together. Their frustrations of having a corrupt party with no agenda and a black President mean they need to create things and/or people to hate. There doesn't need to be any reality involved, just a rumor, a lie...they make this shit up or else they'd have to address the real problems of their corrupt party.

Yes, the corporate media will dance with this and the right wing media will make this sound like a great victory, but it means little. Another bright shiny toy.

12. Let me just say this. Van Jones is not a shiny toy.
He is a good man who I have supported longer than I have even known about Obama. Van has credibility with me based on his long history of honesty and passion for justice. Van cares. And I have known this since before the 2004 convention speech, before 2003 when my Illinois cousins told me about Obama and the environmental record they did not like having to do with Execlon. I already knew Van to be a man of honor at that point.
Good people should not be political cannon fodder. A weak leader allows that to occur. Sorry, but politics is politics and Van earned my trust, Obama is just a religionist who opposes equal rights for minorities he does not like, a man whom I crossed a line to vote for because he might hire people like Van. Now Obama is just anti-equality, a man who hires Blackwater for millions and fires GLBT people for existing.

13. Van Is Just A Cartoon Character On Faux...
I firmly agree that good people shouldn't be political cannon fodder, but that's now how the corporate media sees it. And that's where the bright shiny toy is. Mr. Jones just like Reverend Wright or Bill Ayers or anyone put in the target of the right wing hate machine become a cartoon character...they're labeled and once the mold is set, its only a question of how long a faux of hate radio or both can milk this toy. There's zero context here...they can't allow their demon to be made to look human. This is the black or white world where the under-pinnings of racism and class warfare dictate how the cartoon is drawn and how the toy is played with.

7. Did Beck call for Bush/Cheney's resignation on 9/12/01?
If you ignore warnings of a imminent attack and 3000+ people die on your watch - no problem.
If you ask for an independent investigation into the events of 9/11 - your resignation demanded.

What is wrong with this country?

10. Well. I guess the rabid wing nuts will shut up now
Now that they have gotten rid of Van Jones, that should satisfy them and they'll never never ever bitch whine or complain about any action taken by the administration or any statements made by any representative of the administration within the past 50 years.

Please tell me that there is not somebody working in the WH who actually believes this.
