1. Any time I am around a particle environment.. |
|
i wear an m95 compliant mask. Boats, house hold tools, or a full blown machine shop. Which is overkill, but hey all it takes is one unknown to make you sick. I am usually around mills and metal is different but fine metal particles are not all that good for you either.

2. Now I'm really worried. |
|
Mr. Thirties is at tremendous risk, from wood dust, clay dust, pottery glazes, photography chemicals and, scariest of all, asbestos. For 15 years his avocation was woodworking, both cabinetry and turning. He turned most of the exotic woods in the article, plus spalted everything. Pottery was an avocation for 19 years and I know there were all kinds of fumes from both the clay and the glazes. The fumes from the bisque firing would cause my chest to close up. Did he wear a mask? Never.
And then there was the asbestos. Our full, daylight basement was Mr T's studio for 39 years and for most of those years we had no idea that the stiff white coating on the furnace ducts was asbestos. The cats loved the ducts, they were warm in the winter and, best of all, a great place to sharpen their claws.
Thanks for sharing this.

4. Lots of dust but also lots of art. |
|
Maybe one is worth the other? Without the creative outlets Mr. Thirties would have been a basket case. Sounds like the same with you.
