Just throw the healthcare bill in the trash! OPERATION KILL BILL! |
|
Edited on Sun Sep-06-09 02:26 PM by Joanne98
Get the progessive caucus and Pelosi to say "The bill is DEAD"
What will happen?
The public who really does want reform will freak!
The Insurance Companies who want that big transfer of wealth will freak!
The Insurance giants will jump on the Republicans saying "Get this deal done"
The public will jump on the Republicans " YOU ASSHOLES"
The Republicans will blame the Blue Dogs " They did it not us"
The Blue Dogs will get pissed at the Republicans" and say "chirp chirp"
IT WILL BE JUST LIKE WHEN CLINTON LET GINGRICH SHUT DOWN THE GOVERNMENT!
Obama is too nice a guy to do it and win sooooooooo
GET PELOSI TO DO IT!
It's a win win situation!

9. She has many gardeners. In fact, she owns a vineyard, |
|
One of the more deplorable things one can own, as it allows for fertilizers and pesticide and their runoff into the lakes, while eliminating the wildlife habitat that the orchard or dairy farm previously there would have provided for.
Some species lose fifteen per cent of their numbers here in California due to wildlife habitat loss when the vintners come in.

8. Yes...the "watering down" and deal with "Big Pharma and Insurance Companies" |
|
really killed most of it. We could end up with worse than what we have now. Another Big Pharma/Insurance Boondoggle like what's going on with Wall Street fat cats who ought to be in jail but are getting their big bonuses and still have their jobs and mansions, cars, planes...and the rest.

6. I think killing it now would maybe be best. Let congress do individual legislation |
|
to get rid of "Pre-existing Condition" denials. Extend Medicaid to those who are gapped out between 55 and 65 to qualify for Medicare who've lost their job and because of age have no prospects of another one, and those who have lost their insurance along with their job who've gone past the Cobra and now are left with nothing.
Congress could do this with individual legislation without all the complicated crap the that would be put in with the Compromises that will be done between House and Senate and the "Exchanges" and other complicated loophole filled qualifiers in what's being proposed now.
Kill the Bill.. Without Single Payer and Health Care for ALL...what would we get...something far worse than trying to fix some of the parts that many Republicans would agree on after the egg on their face from the kill.

Don't think they've got the spine to do it but I like it. Would love to hear President Obama say he refuses to sign a bill that will transfer the very last scraps the working class has to the insurance companies. But I don't expect to hear it.

The public will freak. We'll tell them "Talk to the Republicans they're the ones who are blocking reform"
The public will turn on them big time and we can just sit back and laugh.

21. I wouldn't bet on that. |
|
The GOP propaganda machine would most likely successfully place the blame with the Democrats, and I would tend to agree with them, to be honest (albeit for different reasons). Yes, they are obstructing and behaving like petulant children, but that's where leadership comes in and that's what I'm not seeing from our side. I constantly try to console myself with the fact that Obama is very smart. He must know that if this turns out to be a fiasco, he will lose a considerable amount of support from all those who busted their asses to get him where he is. The bullies of the GOP need a punch in the nose and Wednesday would be a great opportunity for him to do it. Will he? I wish I knew the answer to that question.

our side is now losing its mind too.
House will pass PO. Senate will pass PO with trigger (see Ben Nelson today). Conference Committee is key. Some version negotiated between the straight PO & a trigger PO will pass and be signed.

17. Either a trigger softened someway by the House or a PO restricted somewhat by the Senate. |
|
People need to stop freaking over every word by any pol or adviser. We know legislating is ugly. Killing the Bill isn't an option. No one is going to voluntarily start this battle again after the August freak-out. We could wait decades longer like we have had to after 93'.
Veto threats and walking away = Disaster for Dems and everyone who needs health care/insurance reform.

instead of commercials paid for by insurers featuring "Harry and Louise." I think they will blame Repugs..in reverse.

24. No, they wont. We control everything. It'll show we can't govern even when we control everything. |

Republicans are NOT getting blamed for this.
So, it is a good thing HCR is going to pass and Obama is going to sign a bill.

18. I don't get how the Republicans have anything to do with this |
|
We have the White House, the Senate and the House. This getting blamed on Republicans is pretty far fetched at this point, the Democrats own it. The media is gonna eat them alive also the first time something is "rationed" or average appointment times get longer or they'll just spin something up out of boredom. Whatever does pass will probably be implemented over years, so we won't know the true benefits or faults for a long time anyway.
