How Obama could score a big coup tomorrow.
When he gives his speech to the nation.

He could announce that he is signing an executive order directing HHS to extend medicare to anyone qualifying as a low income worker regardless of age....Game, set, and match.
And there is not a damn thing the re thugs could do about it other than roll on the floor and scream their lungs out.
But there is a danger though, it could lead them to rely on the lone assassin to do the bidding or their oligarch masters.

1. If it were that easy..............
....he would already have done it. You have to pay for that stuff. A lot of the "low-wage" earners are already elegible for Medic-Aid.

Medicare for all with a payroll tax on a sliding scale seems doable. Taxes would be raised or lowered to match funding needed. But, that would require congress to actually agree on something.

2. No it would not.
FDR created a banking system in the 30s by EO and a few years later the congress passed it.
And yes the right wing screamed and hollered socialism but it did them no good because the President controls the executive branch not the congress.

3. Just my opinion but...
I believe President Obama feels his legacy is tied to the ideal of uniting this country. And it is deeply divided and has been for some time. However, sometimes the best way to unite the country is to take on those in the vocal minority that are disrupting and creating havoc for the rest of us. I'm not sure that the President is ready to take these folks on?

4. Well I don't think it is possible to unite this country right now.
And it does not matter that the right wing is in the minority because the media is clearly with them and supports them financially and in other ways.
The best way is to get right in their face, and an EO would do that.
