"We're better than them"
I hear this until I am sick of the very words.

We're better than the Republicans.

Oh yeah?

The Republicans were SUCCESSFUL at passing most of their agenda. The last bunch sure did whatever the fuck they pleased. Those wars? They got Congress to vote for BOTH of them. Thos tax cuts for the rich? Voted in. Every Child Left Behind To Pay The Debt? Yup. Voted in.

Even at the end, when we had Congress. Bailouts? That was voted in. TARP? Yup.

We want to do the right thing and give something to ALL people - healthcare.

And we are proving to be as effective as a fart in a windstorm.

So how are we better than them? They SUCCESSFULLY got their EVIL FUCKING AGENDA THROUGH.

We take things off the table. Go along to get along. Wishy washy. Cowardly. Compromising. Bipartisan. Capitulating.

I am fucking sick of it. Even when we win, we end up losing. meanwhile the repubicans can control shit evenw hen they're totally out of power.

Yeah ...I know. The usual bullshit. "Its the media". "It's K-Street." "The people will get mad." "Listen to those Teabaggers."

You wanna talk about whiners? Look in the FUCKING MIRROR.

"You wanna know how you do it? Here's how, they pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. That's the Chicago way, and that's how you get Capone! Now do you want to do that? Are you ready to do that?"

5. Then what would you suggest?
Wearing white gloves so you don't get your dainty hands dirty?

Politics is dirty business sometimes. You have to fight and fight well to get things done. LBJ knew how to do it.

7. I'm guessing you and Thor agree at least at the fundamental level.
His post was a movie quote, exhorting people to action.

Then yes, they are.

But I know what you mean. And yes, it is infuriating at how good they are at being evil and how hard it is to fight it.

C'mon. Being a better abuser is nothing to emulate nor berate yourself over because you make a bad abuser in comparison. Yeah, I'll call it as I see it. I wouldn't be a Progressive if I thought trashing your country is good no matter how much better you are at it.

9. The block to universal health insurance is now and always has been
CONGRESS. Every president for the past 70 years but Stupid has wanted meaningful reform, even though the two parties disagreed wildly on what that reform should consist of. Every president has been stymied by a lazy and cowardly CONGRESS.

Clinton's bill, while seriously flawed enough to appeal to the GOP, couldn't even make it out of committee. Insurance companies complained and that was enough for our fearless leaders.

If they fail again, the Democrats will be the minority party again as disgusted Democrats stay home in 2010 and allow a GOP sweep. It happened that way in 1994 and it will happen again for the same reason: nobody wants to make an effort to vote for corrupt jellyfish who won't do their jobs.

That would be tragic considering the damage GOP Congresses do, but it's inevitable.

But those old boys seem more concerned about keeping the good wishes of their corporate masters than they do about keeping their jobs.
