Mandates without a public option

What a windfall that would be for private health insurance.

Surely this won't happen...will it?

As shown in this New York Times article.

No public option.

Mandated coverage.

And to top it all off, a fee charged to insurers that will be passed on to you and I which guarantees that health care costs will increase AT A FASTER RATE THAN THEY ALREADY ARE!

2. from article
"Mr. Baucus would impose limits on out-of-pocket medical costs — the co-payments, deductibles and similar charges for covered items and services. The limits would be $11,900 a year for a family and $5,950 for an individual. The comparable numbers in the House bill are $10,000 and $5,000."

Damn them to Hell.

3. And we go from the frying pan into the fire.
It would some kind of sick joke like *'s 'clear skies initiative'.

4. Pretty much....
The action will be in the individual mandates. Employer mandates - not so much.

There will be a fig leaf, meaningless "Public Option" that Obama will cite when he signs the bill.

Oh, and there will be some verbiage that obligates the insurance companies to play nicer. How effective that will be remains to be seen.
