Dish Network still airing ad from "U.S. Citizens Association"
Edited on Mon Sep-07-09 08:00 PM by FreakinDJ
I just saw it for the first time while watching CNN. It was obvious the ad was completely bogus airing the same false claims we've all been discussing for months now

•Government can tax and print money, which will eliminate private health care and impose socialized medicine.
•You will wait months and years for treatment. Many people will not get treated at all.
•You will pay for free health care for over 20 million illegal aliens.

Is satellite TV exempt from the FCC ?

The FCC expects broadcasters not to air false or misleading ads. By airing U.S. Citizens Association’s ludicrous advertisement, Comcast appears to have violated FCC policy.

It would be nice if all concerned citizens WHO OPPOSE PROPAGANDA and Believe in 1st Amendment Rights please contact the FCC and demand Dish Network to STOP airing Propaganda (Propaganda = the single most Anti-American violation) on the airwaves

Chairman Julius Genachowski: Julius.Genachowski@fcc.gov
Commissioner Michael J. Copps: Michael.Copps@fcc.gov
Commissioner Robert McDowell: Robert.McDowell@fcc.gov
Commissioner Mignon Clyburn: Mignon.Clyburn@fcc.gov
Commissioner Meredith Attwell Baker: Meredith.Baker@fcc.gov

Sample Letter (feel Free to copy and paste)

Dear Sirs

Could you please remind Dish Network they have a moral and legal obligation to the American Public NOT to broadcast inflammatory propaganda in clear violation of FCC regulations such as the ad sponsored by the U.S. Citizens Association which has been broadcast during the CNN News show.

Thank You from a Concerned Citizen

3. I called them and had a chat with the person who answered
mostly about how can this be grassroots when you have enough $$$ to buy full page ads in newspapers and ads on national TV.

CREW to Comcast: Pull the ad from U.S. Citizens Association

Submitted by crew on 1 September 2009 - 8:02pm. US Citizen Association

Today, CREW sent a letter to Comcast, urging the cable provider to stop airing an ad sponsored by the U.S. Citizens Association. The ad, which ran at least once on August 27, 2009 during MSNBC’s Morning Joe, violates Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations regarding misleading ads.

Since the ad aired on MSNBC, CREW had sent a letter to MSNBC President Phil Griffin on August 27, 2009, urging the network to pull the ad. MSNBC has since informed CREW that the ad was not running nationally through its network, but rather through the local Washington, D.C. cable provider – Comcast.

As reported today in The Gainesville Times, several media outlets have outright rejected U.S. Citizens Association ads.

According to its website, the U.S. Citizens Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to, among other things, informing “the public on the fallacies of the information being spread by the liberal socialist organizations and the facts on capitalism versus socialism.” The ad, which can be viewed on the organization’s website (http://www.uscitizensassociation.com/USCA_tv.html) opposes healthcare reform and includes the following statements:

8. Sorry I've edited the offensive post

here is what I've found on that group - it appears to be astro-turf plain and simple

from their website
“We have to be very aggressive in our scripting,” said Lance Davis, director of marketing – political for InfoCision, based in Akron, Ohio. “You’ve got to hit them with a sledgehammer in the first five seconds of the call.”

Mr. Davis (a donor to Fred Thompson's lackadaisical 2008 Republican Presidential Campaign) is referring to political telemarketing, a specialty of InfoCision Management, exempt from "do not call" regulations, or any obligation to the truth. Succesful enough to have purchased naming rights for the football stadium at the University of Akron, InfoCision, which operates 32 call centers, is a "message mercenary." They'll provide workers who in turn will say anything for a price.

Mr. Davis is just a hired gun, an employee of InfoCision Management. The REAL shaker is founder Gary Davis, Age 56, founder, in 1982, of InfoCision Management. The real question is who hired InfoCision Management to direct this PR? We may never know. Employee Davis is "founder" of U.S. Citizens Association, the name they took after being forced by BGA to do so.

They also seem to have an unlimited supply of money

Groups Take Health-Reform Debate to Airwaves
$52 Million Has Been Spent So Far on Ads in What Could Be Record-Shattering Battle

The increasingly heated fight over health-care legislation is saturating the summer airwaves, with groups on all sides of the debate pouring tens of millions of dollars into advertising campaigns designed to push the cause of reform forward, slow it down or stop it in its tracks.
