Fired up! Ready to Go!

Yeah, I'm a sucker for a pep speech.

This is the Obama I miss, this is the Obama I want, this is the Obama I like.

I want that bumper sticker.

There are a lot of cynics here in DU, count me among the best of them, but that speech got to me.

I want to be part of that greater good, part of that change, part of something larger than myself.

Yeah yeah yeah, my fellow cynics pshaw me, I know, but for a moment tonight, (before I slide back into cynic land), I felt good again.

I felt that power, that I have long missed that was part and parcel of Obama on the campaign trail.

So for this night and maybe for a good part of tomorrow, before I get cynical again, I will bathe in the thought and emotion of a powerful speaker that President Obama certainly is and put aside my cynism.

I feel good and no one, least of all the repukes, the trolls, the closet trolls, the blue dogs or the cynics, is going to ruin it for me.

For right now, this moment, I am...

1. Talk is cheap -

I've already watched the White House cave on the content of the speech to be given to the school kids - no asking them to write letters to the President, uh-huh, no way - even though GHW Bush did that in 1991. No, it's not acceptable, and as soon as the White House heard about this objection, as inane and uninformed as it is, they folded.

That seems to be what this White House well - fold, back up, and bend over.

Talk is cheap and a pep rally is a wonderful thing. Fired up and ready to go are nice words, but without action, without a substantial accomplishment to accompany it, it's meaningless fluff.

I'd like to see something happen, I'd like to see my President make something happen instead of what I've been watching, which is the White House and my President simply reacting to whatever the rightwingnuts come up with.

Van Jones is a horrible, horrible example of the White House gone very, very wrong..........................................

If you block your ears of that poster, you won't learn of his world and he not of yours. Maybe you could teach him optimism and he can teach you realism?

Imagine that. An opinion different from the OP's, and his position is so weak and shaky, he can't tolerate even knowing that someone else sees it from another perspective.

We all need to protect ourselves when we feel threatened, and closing out the words you don't want to hear is one way to ensure your meager and uninformed survival.
