Remember how Obama won the election?
Edited on Mon Sep-07-09 10:58 PM by CoffeeCat
Obama won the Presidential election because "We The People" stood up and said, "Enough!". We voted for change.
They couldn't have stolen that Presidential election if they had wanted. Support for Obama was too overwhelming.

It is clear that a government-run healthcare system would be an overwhelming success. It would cut costs, improve
the lives of the American people, reduce deaths and bring us into the 21st Century--along with all industrialized
nations that have government-run healthcare.

The corporatists cannot have this. They cannot allow Obama to give the people an amazing program that would be an obvious
success. This would galvanize the country around Obama and increase his popularity. This would almost ensure another
election victory--and a likely landslide in 2012--especially if the economy improves.

It's evident that 90 percent of our politicians are bought and paid for. These same politicians are making damn sure that
no meaningful healthcare reform passes. Democrats and Republicans are undermining this President. They're working against
him, because if a true man-of-the-people is at the helm--that leader can work along side the people to end the corruption and
the corporate influence. If "We The People" truly re-gain power--then the foundation begins crumbling on the little
quid-pro-quo corporate/political corruption game that is king in D.C.

They cannot give Obama this win. He wins. They lose...everything.

I'm sure Obama has incredibly good actors (in both parties) convincing him that he just can't pass a public option and to forget it. It's
just not in the best interests of the country! Most Americans don't want it! Your campaign contributions will disappear in 2012!

However, Obama is a smart man. He hasn't really revealed his final thoughts on this. Maybe we'll discover Wednesday, during Obama's speech, that
he is going forward--despite the forces united against him. Does anyone really believe that Obama's speech to the Unions on Monday, and his speech
to school children on Tuesday are coincidental?

Obama seems to be galvanizing "We The People" in the run-up to Wednesday night.

He's going to need our support if he sticks his neck out for a meaningful public option, because the President can probably count on one hand--the
uncorrupted politicians who truly want the same thing.

Remember..."Change happens from the bottom up, not the top down" so we're going to have to fight for the public option--if Obama reveals
on Wednesday night that he is pushing for a meaningful public option.

2. That's what I sense too...
I have some fear at times, and I lose hope. However, I do believe that I was not duped.

Obama is good people. He's incredibly astute and he knows what he's up against.

He ran for President because he knew the country needed him.

He's dealing with unimaginable challenges about which we'll probably never know--and that means
the path to getting what we want, may not always be linear.

4. I truly believe that we have failed him
He is only one man and all the powers including the press have been against him since he took office. The office of president is a powerful one but it isn't that powerful. The right wingers who are always more unified and organized than the left seized this debate from the beginning and never looked back. The silence of his progressive base at the beginning of this debate was deafening. I do believe that Obama made a mistake by not offering his own guidelines from the beginning but history said he should do otherwise. I also am amazed at how entrenched and counter-productive the moderate/centrist Democrats have been. For some stupid reason I thought the vast majority of them would enthusiastically support Obama on health care reform.......I should have known better.

13. "WE" Failed HIM?
Holy shit. I haven't heard such a convoluted conclusion since the last episode of Cops, when the battered wife begged the police not to take her abusive husband away.

5. I agree ~ "Let's March"
Edited on Mon Sep-07-09 11:28 PM by goclark
I saw a thread that had 3000 People Marching for Health Care. The Media said it was 1000 but it was 300!

That is what we MUST do after his speech.

He can not do it alone.

Remember he said during the campaign, " Make Me Do It."

Well we have got to take to the Streets and get on the phones and call everyone of these Congess people and DEMAND whatever he says in his speech.

8. People are marching on 9/13 in many cities.
http://www.marchforhealthcare.com/events

I've been working with a few organizers to put something together for Tampa but that is not up on the site yet.

Boston has the most impressive amount of people signed up. 50,000 or so.

People are doing something. :)

6. I remember! Yes, I do... and now is the time to rally
around him again and demand that the People's interest be served, rather than the corporate coffers. I believe it's what he wants to do, but he can't do it by himself.

11. he won the campaign through top-notch media/marketing consulting,
the lack of Palin on his ticket, and the revulsion many people felt after 8 years of Bush.

12. "They" DID Steal the Election.
By branding Kucinich "unelectable", by marginalizing all the other candidates who were less beholden to corporate America, they made sure our choices were limited to either Obama or Clinton, both of whom are "centrists" (read: "sellouts") of the highest order.

There was never a realist hope that we would elect a person who was truly interested in change for this country. There will NEVER be a realistic hope for change, until America wakes up and refuses to believe the lies spewed by the media, the lies designed to keep us subjugated and powerless.
