Old habits are hard to break... |
|
We have to admit, the Republicans are very good at personal attacks. Especially if those personal attacks lead to them being able to win or steal elections. Just as they did with Al Gore in 2000 and with John Kerry in 2004. Make no mistake, the Democrats tried to attack them back, but the Republicans are in another league.
Unfortunately, once they have succeeded with their personal attacks and character assassinations, they are forced to lead our government. That is something they do not do well. Quite honestly, they really suck at it.
When a Democrat is elected, they can see no peace. They are attacked from every conceivable angle and then some that aren't even conceivable. For example, Bill Clinton and now, Barack Obama. From Whitewater to giving advice to school children, they will find something.
But the last time the Republicans were so successful, we got George W Bush for eight years. Although they will not admit it, the country was in near ruins. The banks were near collapse. We were mired in two wars in Asia. We had doubled the national debt. And we had lost respect around the world. All we needed was one or two more years of Republicanism and we all would have been living in mud huts.
So now, they are attacking Barack Obama in the same manner they have used on Democrats in the past. He's a "socialist". He's creating "death panels" to kill our old people. He's indoctrinating our school children with his speeches. He is destroying this nation, they argue.
The Republicans want the American people to put them back in charge one more time. This time they will be different. They may hate government but they will do their damnedest to make government work?? All we need is to cut taxes again. That will get our economy back on the right track. Just like it did the last time. Remember?

1. The one Talking Point the Democratic Party should develop and |
|
use over and over and over again.
It was Republican Conservative Economic Fundamentalism which drove us over the cliff. That should fly off the lips as if we were born saying it.
Oh, I forgot we must upset the GOP after all Bipartisanship is our goal. sarcasm.
Drop GWB. Republicans voted lockstep and used Reconciliation when necessary to pass Conservative Economic Fundamentalism policies. You only help the Republicans when you blame only GWB. They slither around with no consequence.
