Republicans Have Lost Control
Edited on Tue Sep-08-09 08:27 AM by berni_mccoy
When the majority of Republicans bought into the Glenn Beck insanity of boycotting the President's school speech without even knowing what the speech was going to be about, the Republicans who were not insane did not react or come out to defend the President. Instead they let their base run around with their hair on fire setting the rest of the country ablaze for no good reason really. And one of the first things to burn to cinders in this was the last kernel of credibility of the Republican party. As the smoke wafts up from the crumbling bit of ash that remains of their party, some of the party 'leaders' are trying to restore any bit of credibility that might remain in their smoldering pit. The Former First Lady came out yesterday to defend the President's address to students and Newt Gingrich came out this morning in defense as well, while those on the Morning Joe show also showed false disappointment in parents and schools who have decided to boycott the President's address. But it appears none of these people are too good at acting and any 'disappointment' they show should have been shown last week while this boycott was being organized.

I shouldn't be too hard on them though. There is some real disappointment in these people. What's disappointing for them is that the President's speech isn't controversial or as their lunatic base claims, 'indoctrinating'. No, the speech is a motivational one aimed at encouraging students nationwide to study hard and do well in school. And now that they realized they're credibility is consumed in the raging fire of hatred and racism inspired by the very spokespeople of the party, Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity, Palin, Pastor Anderson, and other screaming Angry Republicans, these people who should be leaders are desperately scrambling through the ashes looking for a remaining shred of credibility and relevance. They've burnt their hands to a crisp in doing so, and who knows if those who speak for the party are going to tolerate their attempt at taking the reins of the party. They may get burned much worse than they already have.

2. The majority of repubbies are a majority of a small minority.
They are, though, batshit crazy enough to get media attention. Train wrecks make good rating$.

What needs to be hammered home is that this vocal minority does not represent this country or the direction the majority of the people want to take it.

They are the fringe of the fringe.

and it'll all be forgotten come Thursday after the joint address to Congress, I would guess.

Somewhere out there I've got to hope that the general public shook their heads and went "whaaa?"

13. Well, at least the ones I know who were planning on boycotting have seen the Bush Sr. video
of Bush doing this and they've started to doubt that this should have been an issue now. I think this could backfire on people like Beck because no one likes to be made to look stupid, even if they won't admit it.

16. Saw the Speech Outrage Ringleader on CNN yesterday
When asked about the speech transcripts he alluded to the speech that WOULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN had their not been a controversy!
You see it was their protest that forced Obama to revise the speech.

Only Heaven knows what would have been in that speech had the right wing not ginned up a controversy over nothing.

So I think that "better safe than sorry" is an accurate description of their hedged position.

30. ... the speech that WOULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN
Here ya go:

” ‘Sup y’all. Sa’alam. Back in the 70s when I was still a kid but thinking about Kenya, my place of birth, I wanted to change the world to fit my core beliefs in the truth of Islam, a radical left wing Christ, Black Supremacy, Marxism, Darwinism, Atheism and doing everything I could to coddle monied elites on Wall Street. Now that I’m your President, hopefully for life, like my good friends Fidel and Hugo, I’ve got some things to tell you that you have to do to fulfill my orders to make my vision a reality, so I brought me a list.

Now ‘scuse me while I whip this out.

There’s going to be some powerful changes, some I can’t tell you about right now, but you’re gonna have to trust me. So by the power duly invested in me by Allah, ACORN, George Soros, the UAW, radical secularists and corrupt Wall Street Elites, I hereby proclaim the following, and your narrow little asses best get out there and make it happen by protesting and tearing shit up:

1. All white Christian churches are closed. I’m going to sop up unemployment by converting them to gay orgy bars, mosques and Gaia worship centers. The previous employees are going to work at the newly formed Gay Marriage Registration Bureau, which is going to have plenty of clerical work to go around.

2. All white men are going to be forced to marry another man. White gay men get to have one forced gay marriage, black ones get as many as they want – no exceptions.

3. White women won’t be forced to marry women. They will, however, be forced into concubinage with nongay black men.

4. We’re taking down every sign with the name of a Confederate on it. Street signs, buildings, headstones, monuments will all be named after Malcolm X. We’re also changing the name of Washington DC to Marion Berry Town.

5. We’re designating two weeks out of every month for minority looting of white suburbs, exurbs and farms, encouraging squatting as well.

6. The death panels? We’re going to televise those on pay per view, and force saintly old white grannies to beg armed black nationalist panel members for their very existence.

7. Illegal aliens will be given government grants to aid them to procreate.

8. The tax rate is going up to 200% on the top tier, bitches.

9. Free narcotics are going to be provided in the inner cities.

10. The new flag is going to be green, yellow and black, on a set of African inspired geometric designs.

11. We’re pulling the military out of everyplace on earth save here, and will use them to disarm the population. Afterward, aside from my own praetorian guards, the only weapons they’ll be allowed will be clubs and cattle prods for crowd control. That’ll save some money.

12. I’m turning over regulation of the economy and environment to 18 people from San Francisco nominated by Nancy Pelosi in honor of their deep commitments to social justice, sustainability, deep ecology, womyns’ rights and world peace.

Word up, y’all, peace out. Now go do your shit.

If the President is forced into a climbdown on healthcare, Americans will officially live in a country where political change is effected through bringing guns to town hall meetings rather than trivial things like elections and mandates.

11. Different types of control. And just because the Republicans have lost control of themselves
doesn't mean the Democrats have regained control.

The biggest problem with the Democrats is Democrats who won't get in line. We have 60 seats and yet, can't muster up the votes to break the threat of a filibuster in the Senate.

24. They (GOP) have run themselves into the ground and they
will have 3+ years to wander around in the barren desert they have created. They have been trying so hard to diminish President Obama, that they are worn out.

It's interesting to watch....all of their rising stars have imploded. They have no one speaking out with a sane mind. There was talk that Newt Gingrich may be their savior, but he was so late coming out in support of the President's speech today.

They are toast.

they still have complete control - of the banks, the media, and ultimately the agenda that drives this administration. I find it sad that with control of both houses and the WH, Dems are still on the offensive on every issue.

They still control the message. They may be insane, but they know how to push millions of stupid people's buttons exploiting paranoid racist fears.

35. I agree with what you are saying.
What I am saying, however, is that their party is way out of self control, lacking any sort of moral decency or intelligent thought. They are, literally, a party of lunatics now. Anyone in the party who may have been able to rein these nutjobs in can no longer control them. They've let the proverbial genie out of the bottle.

38. I think most of the "Speechers" are too stupid to get it anyway...
Much like the "Teabaggers" railing against taxes after getting a tax break. They really only hear the noise in their own heads.

I'm in a discussion with some RW Fundy cousins who are insisting that healthcare in Canada is so bad the Canadians come down here to see doctors, and can't seem to hear me when I ask things like:

If healthcare in Canada is so bad, why do they live longer than we do? They are #8 in life expectancy and we are #50, and I linked to the WHO and other actuarial reports showing the same thing. They can't give me an answer... it's gone personal now that they can't wrap their pea brains around this one simple and substantiated fact.

Speechers, Teabaggers, Birthers, Deathers, they are all a sandwich shy of a picnic.
