IT looks like this president will have a more receptive audience than President Clinton did in a similar address he made to Congress during his term to advance his own health care plan. I'm looking forward to language from the president which is less conciliatory (than the effort from the WH has made so far) to those in the other party who we all know oppose any change in the present system. I'd like to see this Democratic president concentrate most of his address on those in his own party who have the means to make health care reform happen, yet, can't seem to find the will to join together to advance a bill that would feature the public option we've been promised during all of the campaigning the past few years.
So, I'll be watching for (hoping for) a strong, partisan appeal from President Obama which we can use to amplify the influence of our majority that voters expect their elected officials to take advantage of in this debate. I think he's ready to push past the republican demagogues who've made clear their intention to ignore the will of those voters who've allowed our party into power. We know where the republican party stands. Now, let's see if our elected officials are ready to stand and be counted as Democrats. That's the direction I want to see the WH take in this debate, from now on. Let's concentrate on challenging Democrats to carry out the will of those who put them in power and leave republicans stifled by their own inaction.
Best wishes, President Obama.
President Obama at AFL-CIO Labor Day picnic Monday:

I've got a question for all these folks who say, you know, we're going to pull the plug on Grandma and this is all about illegal immigrants -- you've heard all the lies. I've got a question for all those folks: What are you going to do? (Applause.) What's your answer? (Applause.) What's your solution? (Applause.) And you know what? They don't have one. (Applause.) Their answer is to do nothing. Their answer is to do nothing . . ."
