What is the logic for taxing the health insurance industry for offering
a better policy? Is the Democratic Bill coming from Commerce Committee a race to the bottom? I would think incentive for offering better policies rather than punishment. but what do I know?

It is to give them more power and for them to be NEEDED.

Just like cigarettes in the United States are in no danger of being outlawed anymore, for-profit insurers will use that as a way to be NEEDED. People don't want to lose all the tax revenue cigarettes bring in.

This will give them MORE power and is a HORRIBLE idea.

2. I think it SUCKS ...
Surely better revenue sources exist .... Let's start by returning upper class taxation to more reasonable levels that existed before this nonsense began ....

Taxing a benefit I receive from my employer just seems preposterous .... WTF are they thinking ?

3. It's anti-union.
Unions have gotten workers good health insurance.

Taxing insurance companies for selling expensive policies with good coverage may cause the insurance companies to stop selling those policies.

The corporations which employ the union workers would keep the difference.
