but not too old to have one or two very effective terms in the Senate.
It will give the party time to find someone a bit younger for the seat.
Perhaps they can persuade Anthony Wiener to leave NY.

and don't need a NYer. If you look at their Senators over the last 50 plus years, they done exceptionally well - JFK, EMK, Ed Brooke, Paul Tsongus and John Kerry. All major players in the Senate in their time.
