Bill Gates takes education mission to TV networks
By SHAYA TAYEFE MOHAJER Associated Press Writer

Sep 8th, 2009 | LOS ANGELES -- Bill Gates is using MTV to spread his education message to America's youth.

The Microsoft co-founder is in Los Angeles to unveil a nationwide program aimed at boosting high school and college graduation rates.

The program includes the Tuesday night premiere of a documentary featuring President Barack Obama, singer Kelly Clarkson and basketball star LeBron James. It will air on all of Viacom's U.S. networks, including MTV and VH1.

Earlier in the day, Obama gave a speech challenging America's students to take pride in their education.

Gates is following with the announcement of his "Get Schooled Initiative," a five-year plan to create awareness of the U.S. school system.

The Seattle-based Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is partnering with education leaders, Viacom and other corporate firms to launch the program.

7. "to take pride in their education"
Edited on Tue Sep-08-09 02:46 PM by BolivarianHero
Pretty hard when you consider the state of the education system in places like Talibama.

Gates would be better off spending the money on some initiative with Soros to wipe out the Christian Coalition and other far-right groups.
