CNN's dumbed down definition of "controversial":

con·tro·ver·sial (kntr-vûrshl, -s-l) - 1. any subject which produces interesting YouTube video clips that we can show on CNN instead of actually researching and acting like journalists. 2. any subject over which a tiny minority of persons who hold bizarre points of view disagree violently with the vast majority of people who hold rational points of view - e.g. The notion that "the earth is round" is controversial.

Actual definition:

con·tro·ver·sial (kntr-vûrshl, -s-l)

1. Of, producing, or marked by controversy: a controversial movie; a controversial stand on human rights.
2. Fond of controversy; disputatious.

2. I was watching WTAE out of Pittsburgh today.
They had the banner as "controversial speech" or something with the word controversy in it leading into the story about the speech today. All that I could think was: what the hell is controversial about the President asking kids to stay in school? I mean come on, talk about programming the viewers to think that it has to be controversial since it's right on the screen in front of them! Does anyone else have a harder time watching the news with all of this B.S. being spread by the RW media or is it just me?

3. What courage and guts our President showed!

He proved that he wasn't afraid to make a controversial speech that told kids to stay in school! Wow! Take that, you Obama naysayers!

:sarcasm:

We live in a country where showing compassion for one's fellow human beings is also considered controversial. I feel as though I'm stuck in an episode of The Twilight Zone.
