we're in a tin can, about to zip around to the dark side of the moon.
that's what this feels like.

tomorrow is the speech.

right now, i am preparing for radio silence as i slingshot around the dark side of the moon.

when the speech starts, and i hear the radio transmission start to crackle and begin coming through again, i will be hoping, with a tear in my eye to see the beautiful blue orb of earth once again - or in this case, the hope that health care for all is still alive and well.

let's just hope we don't run out of fuel. it would be a shame if we got this far, got this close to making it back home - passing health care for all, and simply ran out of enough fuel to get us the rest of the way...

leaving us floating for eternity in the cold dark reaches of space -

45 million uninsured Americans. this is the cold dark reaches of space. this is their eternity.

end of transmission...

1. I'll be the one to say it: Houston We Have A Problem...
I think the Public Option is venting out into space with pressure down to 800 PSI and falling and the health care main buss is down to 22 volts.

Apparently the "blue dog" sensors (uh senators) have malfunctioned again..

5. Build your own oxygen scrubber
or you'll be fined.

There's your public option.

2. We are not close.
We are way far away from meaningful reform.

I think the President would be better off tabling the idea until 2011. It's clear that he "doesn't have the votes" to get meaningful reform.

3. i'm thinking (like they way they're working to eliminate the donut hole for part d),
that they will put something through, then work on making it a strong public option oh around, 2012, while *that* umerrikkka is distracted by another new pre-school plastic toy to tear apart

it'll work so well that..2016's will just about be wrapped up

(thinking positive outcome, positive outcome...)

4. Ground control to Major Tom..
Take your protein pills and put your helmet on..

I'll be utterly shocked if we get an actual, useful public option that isn't somehow crippled or made into a joke.

8. Not vanished..
Never was there to start with..

I've been paying attention to American politics for too long to have many illusions left.
