Anti-school speech ranter has a Bill O'Reilly moment.
This guy, who goes by the screen name 'Informed Citizen', uses an anti-Obama button as his avatar on the comments he posts to our local paper. Unlike so many of his fellow anti-Obamaists he generally uses proper grammar and is not given to wild misspellings. And he has been trying to spread the discontent since the election. So of course he posted numerous comments voicing strong objection to Obama's speech to students; and it should be noted that he has claimed that his sentiments cannot be racist because Obama is 'half white'.

So today, after the school speech, the guy posts a comment that starts with this sentence:

"Mr Obama gave a nice speech to the students today. It was filled with the message of personal responsibility (something I would not have expected)."

Is it just me, or is that evocative of O'Reilly's description of his visit to the Harlem restaurant?

1. Well, yes.
He didn't expect Obama to talk to kids about personal responsibility and studying hard and all that stuff. I'd guess he was deeply disappointed not to hear a speech about how kids should wear do-rags, smoke pot and break windows.

2. Anecdotal evidence that some, if not most,
of these winger crazies have had their fingers in their ears for several years.

Obama has said most of these same things hundreds of times.

3. Yeah, and Obama is 'clean and articulate'.
Racists just never can see past their racism.

8. You might want to look up the name of the person
that called Obama "clean and articulate" before you start blaming right wingers for it.

9. I know who said it.
I stand by my post.

Racist language is the same, no matter whose lips speak the words.

4. Before you pile on - wait for a few new posts from this guy and see if he's had a road to Damascus
conversion as a result of this speech. You never know.

5. no, it's not just you
i'd ask him why he was surprised that obama talked about personal responsibility. his answer will tell you a lot more about him than obama.

6. Somebody already asked him to explain.
So far he hasn't responded.

7. Update:
A different poster offers this 'explanation':

"The comment about "personal responsibility" probably results from the Democrats tending to reward people for NOT being responsible through numerous welfare programs."

And he's a pastor in a local church.
