When Glen Beck speaks, Rahm listens.

1. I don't believe that
I'm not defending Rahm but I just don't believe he grovels to anyone. Maybe he stays silent because why in the world would he want to interrupt Beck while he's destroying himself?

16. Rahm has the President's ear. The President told (or allowed) Van Jones to resign.
Rahm didn't say a word to the public. Apparently he is ok with the decision. He was certainly vocal enough when he told progressives to sit down and shut up. Fuck him and his horse.

38. No-"pathetic" (though that's not the right word) - is THIS
http://campaignsilo.firedoglake.com/2009/09/06/van-jones-a-moment-of-truth-for-liberal-institutions-in-the-veal-pen/

Soon after the election, the Administration began corralling the big liberal DC interest groups into a variety of organizations and communication networks through which they telegraphed their wishes -- into a virtual veal pen. The 8:45 am morning call co-hosted by the "liberal" Center for American Progress, Unity 09, and Common Purpose are just a few of the overt ways that the White House controls its left flank and maintains discipline...

...A few weeks ago, Rahm Emanuel showed up at a Common Purpose meeting and called these liberal groups "fucking stupid" for going after Blue Dogs on health care and ordered them not to do so any more. Since that time, to the best of my knowledge, none of them have.

These organizations may kid themselves that they're doing no harm, but that's not true. They are the institutional liberal validators who telegraph to liberals that there are problems, that things are happening that are not good for them. They are trusted to decode the byzantine rituals of government and let the public know when their interests are not being served, that it's time to pay attention and start making a racket. When they fail to perform that task, the public is left with a vague feeling of anxiety, intuitively understanding that something is wrong but not knowing who or what to blame...

...The truth is -- they've all been sucked into insulating the White House from liberal critique, and protecting the administration's ability to carry out a neoliberal agenda that does not serve the interests of their members. They spend their time calculating how to do the absolute minimum to retain their progressive street cred and still walk the line of never criticizing the White House.

Rahm cares about nothing but power. His team's power. It matters not one whit to him who that power serves.

Obama has done good things since taking office, for sure, but in the end they will amount to no more effect than all the little "victories" of the sell-out envirnonmentalists - because he will not challenge the big ones, money and militarism. To date, he has definately shown that he is no more than an avatar of the "scraps and bones" vs "licked clean plate" wing of the ONE Party rule we suffer. One can "hope" we'll see something different from him in the future, but we'll have to "hope" without evidence to date from his actions. And I see faint hope of his actions changing with Rahm running the show. And none without pressure from the "liberals" - who every day show they are nothing but "limosine liberal" wannabe's.

But you just keep right on cheering with your eyes screwed shut. It probably doesn't matter anyway - we're all going to end up in the same damn company town barracks, from the looks of things, at least until the food chain collapses from pollution and warming, when we descend into tribal savagery.

But Van Jones resigned and Rahm hasn't told Beck to sit down and shut up. I guess he only says that to his "friends".

32. I fear you're right
Interesting how quick Obama is to throw someone under the bus when the right makes an issue of the individual. It was mentioned on "Countdown" tonight (can't remember who said) and it was pointed out that appeasing the right never worked for Clinton and Obama might want to remember that.

The O-Man has paid Emanuel back enough for his help, now Emanuel is in a position for bazillion dollar book deal and maybe he could Stephanopolous Face The Nation away from doddering dodo Bob Schieffer or sumpthing.

24. Glenn Beck is Mainstream. Progressives( anyone a little left of
center to Center Left) are not mainstream.

This has been the truth for a long time. Ever wonder why you
rarely see a real Liberal on TV.

Center Right Country = Beck and his followers set the rules
and we must obey.
