I Can't Stand Conservatives on Fiscal Policy
First off, they aren't even fiscal. They spend billions of dollars into wars and the military budget. Second, they want these deficits to be fixed by cutting taxes??? This makes no sense since tax cuts create more debt since there's less money going into the government to pay for these programs. Another excuse is to cut wasteful spending programs. Well where are you gonna start? You can't cut Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. The only place I see is 50% of the world's military spending in our budget, but the neo-cons aren't happy with that, they want increases, instead of decreases.

Here's how I would fix this deficit after the recession is officially over, and we better fix it, or else higher inflation is on the horizon.

1. Legalize all drugs, and tax it. You save 50 billion dollars by ending the drug war and you earn another 50 billion dollars by the drug taxes.

2. Get the hell out of Iraq and Afganistan. That's another 150 billion dollars a year saved.

3. Raise taxes on the wealthy to Eisenhower levels of 90% if you're over the income level.

4. Get a single-payer healthcare system. This would basically eliminate Medicare and Medicaid, since everyone would be covered, and it's cheaper. It could also save us 800 billion dollars a year. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x6270709

1. I think the legalizing drugs would be more revenue neutral

Yes, there are savings on not locking people up and taxing, but you're also going to need to (and absolutely should) pour WAY more money into the various lines of treatment for substance abusers. We are woefully under served in that regard now.

LOVE the plan though.

2. Sadly, I don't know it all these changes could still cover the debt or not
A middle class tax increase might be in order.

3. We the people of the United States,
in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
