Hey! Whatever happened to those two wars we've been having?
Last time I checked, Uncle Sam
was using my tax dollars on two illegal,
immoral and unnecessary wars.

What’s up with that?

I’m angry that these same wars
have been very profitable ventures for Big Business,
Wall Street and the Military Industrial Complex.

Like the crazy monkey said:
“Money Trumps Peace.”

You remember Iraq and Afghanistan, DU.
Going by what passes for political discourse,
America does not.

Like war, that also should be a crime.

3. That is a real shame.
What the heck?

Didn't We the People vote or something to stop these wars?

It sounds crazy to read it, but that's what I remember.

Something else I remember:

Know your BFEE: GW Bush Covers Up His Lying America Into War

Thanks for remembering, also, Solly Mack.

14. I am old enough to recall the vivid nightly news pictures from Vietnam
also,

After years if real protests, we finally called it quits and the pictures helped the protest.

I call it a success when French, German, American and British peeps can tell each other what they really think. ;)

Grateful for the baby steps, you know. It's a big job to raise the collective consciousness of earthlings even an eighth of an inch, that's why we're all here on DU.

11. My wife's dad is a World War II B-17 navigator. He bombed his familial town in Germany.
One of his missions involved attacking the Mercedes factory in his family's home town. He said it was war and he had to do it.

He described how his German grandfather came to America around 1870. The guy and a couple of cousins saw that the leadership of the then-new German state had an agenda -- war with France. They wanted to avoid war and came to the USA.

The guy's a Republican -- the good kind.

17. How can you be a Republican of the good kind ? I seriously have to question that.
What makes someone a "good guy Republican" at this point in history when it has become painfully clear that Republicanism amounts to the enabling of war profiteering and wage slavery on a global scale?

18. Democratic President. Democratic House. Democratic Senate.
And the wars are still going on.

My F-I-L voted for Obama.

He thought Obama would end the wars, deliver universal healthcare and clean out the Bush crooks, like I told him.

24. Thanks Octafish. I put it up at DailyKos, too. And...
a number of people were complimentary, but it got even less reaction than it got here. Of course, they don't really know me over there, but still.

focus away from the healthcare debate. We don't need that right now.

16. Thomas Jefferson described it a whole lot better than I ever could:
"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be."

Most of us Americans are ignorant. Some are guilty of willfully being ignorant because they choose to limit their exposure to only those points of view that are comfortable to them. Some are ignorant because they don't have the brainpower to discern and learn. But most are ignorant because they are blinded by the propaganda machine that is the corporate media.

Thank you, Octafish, for reminding us of the obscenities that we are sponsoring.
