My little sister drew this cartoon

I saw the recent WSJ article about how the stimulus is working. I have watched as the Republican's only unifying cause appears to be anything that can sabotage Obama, no matter what the cost to the country. An image came into my mind. I described it to my sister, and she drew it!

And it's exactly what they're doing. We keep trying to fool ourselves that they would never destroy their country, but the fact is that is exactly what they've been doing even when they are in power.

14. That is the FIRST thought that came to my mind. The drawing is WONDERFUL, but it made
me sad because I love Babar and hate to see him as a Republican.

Actually it just pisses me off in general that Republicans use the elephant as their symbol. Elephants are beautiful, intelligent and very loving, fiercely protective of their own, and live in large cooperative communities (some might say "socialist"). Republicans are just not. Republicans shouldn't get to use an animal at all. Any animal on this planet is too good for them. They should have to use the dung of the ugliest, smelliest creature on the planet as their symbol. Much more fitting.

36. Elephant families
are also matriarchal, something republicans have NEVER been known for.

I've loved the critters since I was a little kid. At some point (I think I was 7 or 8 at the time) I'd seen something about some pygmie elephants, and I was mad at my folks for months because they wouldn't get me one as a pet...

But it has always been so that the GOP perverts symbols by adopting the exact opposite of what they are.

TAKE BACK THE ELEPHANT!!!!! They're too good for the GOP!!!

BTW, I saw a documentary where a calf was orphaned and another mom elephant adopted him and let him get milk from her. Elephants have BIG hearts (again...not like a repuke).

101. I totally agree with you. Check this out below:
In Tennessee, troubled elephants find an unlikely home

HOHENWALD, Tennessee (CNN) -- A pair of African elephants tramps through lush vegetation, stopping to scoop dust with their trunks and toss it onto their backs for protection from the summer sun.

Tarra, who was a year old when Buckley met her, was the inspiration for The Elephant Sanctuary. Meanwhile, two others submerge their massive forms to splash and dip in the waters of a muddy pond.

It's a scene that could have been pulled from a nature documentary. But it takes place in an unlikely spot: a 2,700-acre sanctuary in rural Tennessee. It's not where nature intended the animals to be, roaming free in the vast expanses of subtropical Africa and Asia.

103. I saw a show about that sanctuary. It was amazing. There were two elephants who
had been separated for something like 20 years and were reunited at the sanctuary. I don't think the keepers were initially aware that these two elephants may have known each other. Anyway, when they were able to interact with one another, they clearly remembered each other and immediately became inseparable. They'd walk around the grounds with trunks intertwined. It was soooooooooooooooooo achingly sweet. I cried when I saw it. I've wanted to visit it ever since I saw that documentary.

37. Excellent concept and rendering. However -
before spreading it too far you might ask your sister to create her own non-Babar elephants. Babar is copyrighted and the owners might (or might not) take exception and bring legal action. Not worth the risk. Your sister clearly has the necessary imagination and talent, I hope we continue to see her work!

71. That's fantastic? OMG, where's Hawaii?
Is that it clutched in his hand along with Alaska? I'd hate to think it was already lost.

102. I meant for my prior subject line to read, "That's fantastic!"
Not with a question mark. :)

And I did see Hawaii, was just joking around. The cartoon is spot on.

And ya gotta wonder, "Where in hell are the Democrats?"

I sent it off to my quadriplegic best friend in Florida.
