Bob, Bob, Bob....WTF? Nooooooooooooo!
Bob Dylan delighted to be an ‘honorary Texan’

Washington, May 25 : Folk musician Bob Dylan says that he is delighted to have received the title of an honorary Texan from former American President George W. Bush.

Bush honoured Bob with the title just few days before he had taken the presidency.

"I think you really have to be a Texan to appreciate the vastness of (the state) and the emptiness of it. But I''m an honourary Texan. George Bush, when he was governor, gave me a proclamation that says I''m an honourary Texan. As if anybody needed proof. It''s no small thing. I take it as a high honour,” Contactmusic quoted Bob as saying.

Bob also declared that the former American President was not to be condemned for the country''s current economic difficulties.

"None of us really knew what was happening in the economy. It changed so quickly into a true nightmare of horror. As far as blaming the last president, think of it this way: the same folks who held him in such high regard came to despise him. People are fickle,” he said. (ANI)

It explains why he doesn't still make the thought provoking hits like he used to.

Yes, liking Dylan when he was a cool Jewish guy is still alright.

"None of us really knew what was happening in the economy"...well some of us did Bob.

8. I don't hold it against Bob
We're all political junkies here. The collapse of our economy was multi-faceted - sometimes you couldn't tell the players without a scorecard.

Enron was just the overture to this tragic symphony. This has been brewing for a long time, and while Bush and Cheney certainly did their part, they're not the only ones responsible.

I'm going to listen to North Country Blues now...

11. The statement is nine years old.
He said it was an honor to be a Texan. Is that bad? Then he says "the same folks who held him in such high regard came to despise him. People are fickle." That statement could apply to almost every politician and is a popular sentiment here at DU. I'm sure Dylan is not a bush fan. And yes, I am a Dylan fan.

Strange how 2 guys known to be keen social observers turned into out-of-it-twits in their dotage.

20. Reagan apologist, for one
Neil became quite the cold warrior in the '80s and liked Ronnie's "peace through strength" initiatives, among other things. He recanted some, but not all, of his Reagan admiration later.

Then there was his Toby Keith moment after 911, when he wrote that song with the strikingly original name -- Let's Roll -- about smashing evildoers.

After a couple of years, he'd had a bellyfull of Bush, so he put out an anti-Bush album. He sang about how we needed a leader: Obama's too young, maybe Colin Powell could run and put everything straight. Colin. Fucking. Powell.

Then not too long ago, someone made fun of Dubya's malapropisms within earshot and Neil went off: Bush isn't stupid. In fact, he's a real leader with admirable perseverance. Apparently, he'd forgotten about us needing Powell to rid us of Bush's stink...

Neil's about as flighty as they come.

Sorry, Bob but what the fuck are you smoking? Even I knew the economy was going to hell months before the 'crisis' was recognized in Washington.

Dude - I just lost any dribble of respect I still had for you. :(

Sure nothing wrong with that. I am honored to have him as an honorary citizen of our state.

Unfortunately, the person who bestowed this honor is a piece of shit. I wish a real Texan would have made Bob an honorary citizen.
