..."meet at the barricades one way or the other."
Keith Olbermann made this comment last night after Lawrence O'Donnel's comments about the current Health Care debacle.

OLBERMANN: "Alright, well, we'll see what the Internet can do to change the equation, but I think we're still going to have to meet at the barricades one way or the other."

The video is posted here:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=385x367838

And this thread currently has 77 recommends, and many supportive comments, agreeing to "meet at the barricades" and calling FOR a "General Strike".

I wonder how many are really serious.
I don't see Keith going "On Strike" and giving up his Health Insurance.
No, Keith won't be "at the barricades".

Do you know where "the barricades" are?
Are you willing to defy "The Government" that is going to order you to buy "Insurance" from the For Profit Health Insurance Industry?

If enough of us are willing, we CAN destroy the For Profit Health Insurance Industry.
"The Barricade" is HERE:
Just say "NO!" to the For Profit Health Insurance Industry and the Democratic Party co-conspirators.

Are YOU really ready to man this barricade?
Are YOU willing to STRIKE the Health Insurance Industry that has bought The Democratic Party?
Will you join my wife and I at this barricade?

OR
is this something you want someone else to do?

4. Now hang on a second. I have a high-deductible policy with a companion Health Savings Account.
It is money for nothing with respect to routine care. If I needed treatment today, the first five thousand bucks is 100 percent out of my own pocket. In other words, at the moment, it represents ALL PROFIT for WellPoint and Unicare as far me being any provider's patient.

I don't know my blood type, cholesterol count, blood sugar, liver or kidney performance levels, blood pressure-- none of that.

But this crummy plan is the only thing which stands between me and financial ruin if I have a catastrophic illness.

Does my solidarity with you require that I cancel this coverage and play medical bill russian roulette?

I'm not eligible for Medicare (as we know it) for another decade!

Is there any support I can give to this movement short of going without coverage, such as it is?

Maybe I can buy a little stock in Aetna, WellPoint, Humana, etc. and vote those shares in a particular way?

5. I tend to have a hard time with authority
especially when it comes to telling me that I *have* to purchase insurance from one of (x) companies who have a 30% overhead and their CEOs are making tens of millions of dollars a year.

Right now, I am in the ranks of the unemployed (along side so many of you), and am on COBRA. If my next job doesn't have employer-offered health benefits, I'll pay the fine.

Regardless of coverage -- if this is how it ends up, yes, I will be at the barricades. I protested the war in DC and I wouldn't miss a healthcare protest of this magnitude for anything.

We already had our trigger. It was called the "2008 election".

7. I won't ever pay this fine.
NEVER...EVER. Fuck them.

I am sick enough of mandated auto insurance extortion.

9. You won't have much choice. They'll have the IRS collect.
You could go off the radar.
