Poll question: OK, I messed up in my other OP.

I do believe that in lieu of single-payer mandated Health Insurance is a necessity, but I also believe that a Public Option is a necessity. I do NOT support a mandate without a Public Option. In fact, I don't think that outside of single-payer any reform will work without a PO.

I have read many posts that are against a mandate, and I assumed they were against the mandate even with a PO. I can agree that without a PO such a mandate would only be a give-away to Insurance Corporations, so maybe I misunderstood those posts. Which is what I would like to clarify with this poll.

(In lieu of a single-payer system) Do you support a Health Insurance mandate with or without a Public Option?

To be clear, I want a single-payer system but I don't think it can pass under present circumstances. Otherwise, I support a mandate with a PO, but not without a PO.

Thanks for playing!

3. i responded that i do not support a mandate under any circumstances.
this is my response because until we have a cogent and true plan, and the insurance companies can be made to be fair... then I do not believe anyone should be forced into the system. This does not mean that I do not support some sort of mandate EVER... it means that I believe that until we fix the problems with the system, and ensure that people actually have choices (re: a true public option) then it would be too burdensome to people to make them buy into the system. And it would give insurance companies too much leverage until such happened.

4. So you would support it if we had a robust Public Option and if
it were subsidized for those who needed help and for those who could not afford it at all they would become eligible for Medicaid?

5. i would support it if it did indeed have these things... but only after we had set up something
that gave everyone a viable option. not just forcing us into a system controlled by the insurance companies.
