Just called (because of an email) Wyden and Merkley here in Oregon:
Told Merkley's office that we want a strong public option on day one and we want it now. The guy said that Merkley wants a strong public option too. Then on to Wyden's office. Told the gal that Wyden needs to stop listening to the insurance industry and start listening to his constituents. That we want a strong public option and we want it now. That we do not want his trigger plan that is aided and abetted by the insurance companies. That we want those murderers out of the picture. We do not want for profit to deny coverage to people and let them die. If he does not listen to us we will trigger him out next election. She was not happy and I doubt he'll get the message.

2. Just called back because I was not safisfied with the gal's answer for Wyden. Got a guy
Edited on Wed Sep-09-09 03:34 PM by bkkyosemite
this time and I was a lil angry, tactful but angry. I asked how messages get to Wyden. He told me they put in the zip code and enter the comment in the data base. I told him similar but more detailed about how we do not want insurance companies involved in our healthcare and we do not want a trigger as Wyden does. We want him to listen to us or we will vote him out. That it is time and the time is now for real healthcare coverage. A strong public option for now and Medicare for All down the road but we want it starting on day one not years later. And he better listen to us. The guy was very polite and said he would make sure he entered everything I said and I said thank you...he said have a nice day........

Everyone needs to do this today!!!!!!Call your Senators and Congressman and tell them stop screwing around and get it done now!

7. Eugene here...so has Wyden actually said he'll vote against?
I know he was proposing (and is evidently still championing) his own bill and it is far too "weak" for me. However, that is far different than going on record as saying he'll vote against a bill that contains a public option. As far as I know, he isn't a blue dog and I'd be shocked if he votes with the republicans and blue dogs against a health bill (should a good one somehow get put for a vote).
