So What's the Fucking Healthcare Plan Today?
First Single-Payer was off the table, and Public Option was the plan.

I heard about 6 different versions coming from committees.

Then all focus was on the finance committee. A draft of that is still being passed around, misquoted, etc.

Then the plan to break it up and run it though a somthin-somethin that only requires approval from the budget committee and a simple majority.

Then the triggers from Snowe.

Then the privitization racket from Bacus.

I'm not sure how we can have a public debate about this until we see what comes out of committee. I've seen and been in alot of disagreements that were mostly misunderstandgs because two people were debating different plans.

Are there still negotiations going on? What happened to the plans that came out of those other committees?

If the plan was to muddy the waters, then mission accomplished!

7. The Democratic Party
The party is a coalition of many diversified groups (socially, economically, and culturally) which is why dissent within the party is very common.

For us to get things done, we have to be willing to work with each other and be accept that none of us can get everything we want.

It's fair to say this, though: if the Democrats fail to pass a health insurance reform bill this year, it will be a sign to the American people that the party is incapable of governing.:yoiks:

11. Higher Profits?.....Not Likely
If insurance companies are required to cover people with pre-existing conditions, this will hardly going to help increase their profit margin.

The purpose of the mandates is to help make sure that money is there to pay the sharply increased claims which come in without jacking up premiums on those who already have insurance.

It just makes sense.

13. My bullshit meter just pegged at 11.Which insurance company do you work for?
Edited on Wed Sep-09-09 04:06 PM by MNDemNY
on edit: You assume that insurance companies will actually PAY claims. They deny on average 23% of claims now, do you think that will improve??

17. Let's Remain Civil
First off, please control your language when you speak to me. I have in no way been disrespectful towards you, and I don't feel you need to use obscenities to get your point across.

I do not, nor have I ever worked for an insurance company. The 23 percent figure you gave is obviously disturbing and I would like to ask where you obtained that figure? What were the kinds of claims they denied (i.e.--for what types of services would they not pay for)? Does that figure include claims rejected because of some clerical error which are then resubmitted and processed (a very frequent event)?

If the private insurance companies choose to screw us we will have every opportunity to join a non-profit co-op in which WE, the patients, will control the decision-making within the organization. You know, I was just listening to Sean Whannity a few minutes ago complaining that the co-ops are just a subtle takeover by the government (whatever). Yesterday he said it was just a "backdoor" way for liberals to "bully the insurance companies" :eyes:

If that right-wing moron is freaking out so much about non-profit co-ops, obviously there is something VERY good about them!

5. It's part of the legislative process
Different ideas caused many different pieces of legislation to be made and now they're trying to revise and combine the different plans into a single bill. Doing so requires finding out who would definitely vote for (or against) a final bill with a certain provision in it (and there are many proposed provisions).

6. Maybe,...
but Ideas based on lies, are NOT equal to ideas based in fact, and should not be treated as if they were.

One of the things we've been doing is debunking the ridiculous stories perpetrated by the far right over internet blogs during the August recess.
