Do the Dems have the 50 votes (plus Biden) to get a public option thru Senate? |
I believe it will pass the house. Will we have enough votes in the senate if we have to go the reconciliation route? anybody know the latest numbers?

1. But doing that would be mean.... |
and people might say things about them.
We can't have that, can we?

2. my impression-- not necessarily correct-- is that there are enough... |
...senate votes to pass a bill with a strong public option, that virtually ANY good bill will likely pass if if gets to the floor for a vote. It will generate a huge amount of hot air, but at the end of the day it will pass. The real problem is breaking a republican filibuster. I don't think there are nearly enough votes for that, because the blue dogs and just plain corporate prostitute dems will oppose cloture and take the easy way out. They don't have to vote against health care reform if they can help keep it from from coming to a vote.

13. So make them DO the fillibuster. Make Grassley stand on the |
floor for days on end. They can stand and bark until they drop. Then hold the vote. Make them do it.

8. That's the most likely scenario, yes. |
A useless public option and a colossal, Federal bail-out of the health insurance cabal passed on the backs of the struggling American middle class and the uninsured.
Great. :sarcasm:

7. Don't even need Reconciliation, let them Filibuster until they wear out. |
Sooner or later they would have to give up and let it go to a vote. I don't know why no one wants to let the Republicans stand up and look like the asshats they are.

14. There's not going to be any public option. |
You're mad and naive if you think there will be. The President punted on that. Count on an individual mandate, though...that'll survive intact.

He did not however say that it would be in the bill.

19. He said, "But an additional step we can take to keep insurance companies honest is by making a |
not-for-profit public option available in the insurance exchange." But he isn't writing the bill so it may not be in there. He was explaining what he wanted.

20. I was pointing out what he said, not what will be in the bill. Don't take it out on me. |
I support a strong public option. I was surprised that he even mentioned it, but he did.
