She said he seemed "very flexible" and in a "compromising" mood.

Either she will be disappointed or a large majority of Democrats will be supported.

Wouldn't it be a hoot if he DID take the PO off the table and insisted on Medicare for All. She couldn't say he wasn't doing as she asked LOL.

3. We don't need 60 votes to pass HC reform, we just need 60 for cloture.
Just sayin.

5. And we need cloture to pass the bill. All I am saying is that we can expect to see her
make her wishes known, as she thinks she is in a strong position.

Only question is whether the leadership will fall for it or be strong.

8. What is happening with this?
Wasn't today the day that the discussion was to open?

10. The first hearing in the Senate was today. The MA delegation called for
a change of the law. I did not hear that the Senate voted yet.

The House turn should come next week, I think.

4. I hope he was "very flexible" while speaking to her, and comes out and kicks
ass a la FDR. She thinks she's got him by the balls -- fuck her.

6. His LAST chance. LAST. He'll be a laughing-stock tomorrow unless he throws the punch.
Failing while doing the right thing is just fine. He wasn't elected to get along and make friends.

7. The word's already out on the NY Times web site
That Obama won't insist on a public option.

Like we didn't see this coming. Another sell out of the middle class

9. Yeah, but I've heard the opposite predicted, as well. We won't know until
we hear his speech. And we REALLY won't know until we get an actual bill and get it signed.

I'm sick of these pukes -- who the fuck do they think they are??

11. This is what the article says:
"He will also talk about the advantages of a public-insurance option in his address, but he will not insist on it"

They have a copy of the speech.

15. And other excerpts have been released that sounds like he's going to be
firm. I don't know what the hell to think about the public option. Not 'insisting' in his speech may just be more politics in trying to still garner support  But, as I said, it almost doesn't matter what ANYBODY says, what matters is what we GET, right?

And welcome to DU! :hi:

14. CNN is reporting that he will say he prefers PO, but won't demand it.
To me that means it's either off the table or so watered down it might as well be off the table.

17. You know, how about asking what WE demand, we the people who supported
this administration? And Obama said something (I'm really screwing this up -- NOT a direct quote) about him not forgetting who the real boss was -- it was supposed to be us.

I understand -- as far as I can -- that he's got to do politics, and he's faced with things of which we aren't aware. It's never cut and dried, but what I don't understand is why Dems, who supposedly hold the power, are being buffeted around by the Right. Never thought I'd think this, but what would Bush/Cheney do? They'd get what they wanted. Period. Why can't we?

19. Re: the Dems.
They, too, are owned and operated by the health care industry and Wall Street. That's why they're getting jerked around, because they don't want to let the repubs get the money.
