7. I think he's proposing the only thing that will actually pass.
An amalgamation. One extreme would make us happy and leave doctors and others in the business without what they want.

I'm not fully happy. But there is a reality within which he is forced to operate. It's too big a monster to tip over.

I wanted Kucinich. I wanted extreme change.

But this is the way a superb leader operates.

That's just my immediate thoughts without looking at his plan with more depth.

11. How would expanding Medicare to all be extreme change
or even "starting from scratch" which is how Obama keeps labeling single payer?

15. Unfortunately it's not just about health care.
And it's not just about patients. It's about doctors, insurance companies, and a whole line of businesses.

I'm not thrilled. I want extreme change. And not just in health care. But somehow I think Obama knows his game. He knows that they'll mow him down if he gets overly aggressive. We'll see. I'm anxious for sick people to have care. And healthy people too.

14. The public "option" is being set up to fail
it will be a small pool and you can bet the insurance companies will find some way to push those who currently don't have insurance because of preexisting conditions into it. It will be more expensive, lose money, and then pointed at as an example of how "government healthcare" doesn't work.

12. Claiming that people are evil just for working in insurance companies
is just as stupid as claiming people are evil because they are a certain race/religion.

Obama is right. They provide a service. Why are they more evil than any other big companies? Auto manufacturers, banks? All provide a service and should be regulated, but there is nothing inherently evil about them.

This is just stupid. Who else do you hate? Lawyers? Dentists? Any other group of people who provide a service or do something that society has to have? Teachers?

17. As a former employee of UHG I can attest that I am not evil
Edited on Wed Sep-09-09 08:52 PM by dflprincess
most of us at the bottom of the food chain were not evil - it's the crooks at the top who are. And they'd also be shocked if they knew how many at the bottom of the chain mumbled about the need for single payer even several years ago when I was there.

I thought if anyone was going to yell "lie" it should have been when Obama said they provide a service. They don't. They're only a middle man that adds to the cost and make their profits by taking your premium dollars and denying your claims.
