4. Unfortunately......
The dems seem to answer to the unions and trial lawyers. They need to rethink this blind loyalty.

5. The Dems don't answer enough to the unions.
If you are against unions, you are against the middle class.

6. Welcome to DU.
The Democrats answer to unions and trial lawyers? You have to be kidding!

If that's so, why hasn't the Employee Free Choice Act passed yet? Unions wanted it, so why hasn't the Democratic Congress passed it? And why was the President just offering tort reform to the Republicans? Trial lawyers oppose such alleged "reform." Why would the Democrats even talk about tort reform if they were controlled by the trial lawyers.

I am afraid you're still living in fantasy-land, my friend. The unions and the trial lawyers have very little real influence in the Democratic Party.

9. Bipartisan Republicans?!
Republicans have always been irrelevant when it comes to true reform.

Case in point: President Obama claimed in his speech that Medicare was passed in a bipartisan manner, with the help of Republicans. If you look up the actual vote in 1965, this is what you will find:

Number of House Republicans voting "Yea" (as in "Yes")for Medicare: only 70 out of 140
Number of Senate Republicans voting "Yea" for Medicare: only 13 out of 32

Are these the numbers that show bipartisanship? Less than half of the Republicans voted for Medicare. Apparently that is their glowing example of cooperation with liberals.

Republicans have not done a progressive thing for this country since freeing the slaves (arguably their only act that actually advanced this country). If they want to become relevant once again, they need to realize that only liberal progressive action helps this country.
