1. No You Didn't. Exactly. If we are not regulating premiums, this is bogus.

3. It's great that insurance companies can't drop you...
but what's the premium going to be?

4. If you can only change insurance companies if you change jobs...
whatever they want to charge you. :(

9. Subsidies and community ratings
Both are in the plans. But every time I try to talk about anything besides public option I get accused of carrying water for the insurance companies.

7. Price becomes important when there are mandates to
purchase health care from a for profit insurance company. That doesn't concern you?

10. I've been posting about subsidies for weeks
Yes the price of the premium concerns me. But "price controls" was never how affordability was going to be addressed. Subsidies and annual cost caps was how affordability is going to be managed.

13. I'm afraid tax credits will not be much help to folks living paycheck to paycheck.
And absolutely useless to those not working at all.

14. Refundable, like in the EITC
OR the subsidy will go directly to the insurance company and the individual will only owe their share of the premium, which is how it is in Oregon.

And with Medicaid increased, many people not working at all will get free health care.

There is an enormous amount of good in this bill. If Progressives would stop bitching and coalesce around the public option, there would be a unified voice for that too.

5. Insurance companies will pay a penalty / tax for high priced insurance packages.
That is what I heard.

6. Shhhhh!

Thats the BIG loophole.
They have to cover you,
but no one says how much they can charge you
for your "Premium" coverage.

16. Is this not price controls?
They will no longer be able to place some arbitrary cap on the amount of coverage you can receive in a given year or in a lifetime.

We will place a limit on how much you can be charged for out-of- pocket expenses, because in the United States of America, no one should go broke because they get sick.

And insurance companies will be required to cover, with no extra charge, routine checkups and preventive care, like mammograms and colonoscopies.
