2. The speech was good. I would have rather heard "And medicare for all" but maybe that's just me. I

think it was a really good speech and it hit a lot of good points (and bad Republicans) and will reassure a lot of people who were feeling worried and falling for the GOP crapola, so I think the President will see some renewed support for his efforts.

But beyond that, I am still going to wait until we see what the bill he actually signs looks like. That's the moment of truth, not the speech.

6. Well if the poll doesn't offer an obvious option I could see it.
That said, I hold strong views on this but I offered choices that are the opposite of mine and allowed people to vote on it so hey I don't get it, I tried to offer all of the common view points that I've seen thus far on the board about it.

5. Good speech, about the best we can expect from politicians in this corrupt system.
It's about the bare minimum I can possibly get behind, but there it is - and I support effort to get it passed.

11. Good, but I have reservations.
I don't really think he said much new. The energy and forcefulness was welcome even if I disagree with some of the specifics.

12. I'm not overly concerned about tort reform unless it actually buys votes
He more or less said he'd have Sebellius look into it. That's small potatoes and little will come of it even if we do something there, we won't be taking food off any of our JD friends or keeping anyone from suing. The lip service kind of takes away 1/3-1/2 of the Republican "plan" so they will have to dig up a new pretend initiative.

15. The idea is to persuade more states to limit compensation for pain-and-suffering...
...caused by medical malpractice.

Millionaires in those states can still say that they medical malpractice cost them millions, and so they need to be compensated with millions.

But ordinary people get little for pain-and-suffering.

13. I'm feeling sold-out.
What's worse is that I am certainthe individual mandate, if enacted, will do serious damage to the Democratic Party. It will be deeply resented, and it will drive voters away in droves.

19. did Obama actaully offer tort reform, or did he say he would reduce the cost that
defending against malpractice brings to the system by reducing the need for doctors to practice defensive medicine? I think what he promised was to establish generally accepted best practices.

At this rate we are going to get Repuke HC passed, with a Dem President, and Dem House and Dem Senate.

How the heck did we vote for that?

I see trouble for the Democratic Party ahead, and somehow, the blame will be placed on Obama for having the 'audacity' of trying to change a system which, it will be claimed, a majority of Americans liked just as it was, when the dropoff in support will come from the fact that so many of his promises, if not all of them, went unfulfilled or compromised to mimic the Republican aims.
