It's a numbers thing and the main reason why complete idiots like Wilson, Schmidt, Pence, Gohmert, McHenry and Bachmann get elected and reelected.

It's no mistake that these fools and a good number of the GOP has gone off the deep end, I call it "Political Distillation", where the moderate GOP types were cooked off and left the GOP with 190 proof crazy types.

Tom Delay's gerrymandering has solidified districts that are full of idiots who elect idiots.

It's going to be real hard to replace these fuckers with good Dems.

It's going to take a lot of time and money.

and it's going to be really hard to keep on to Dems that have more idiots than are easily manageble in their districts.

We have a fight ahead of us in the next election cycle.

Make no mistake about it.

2. Agree that some districts are flooded with cretins. I'm thinking of an
Ohio district that has been sending someone like Mean Jean Schmidt to the Congress in consecutive elections. Those are hard nuts to crack, agreed.

And the sheer logistics of an Asshole Eradication Project are daunting.

More hard work, more door-to-door, more effective campaign ads, more hustle, more support from the national committee, etc.

3. I was thinking of Schmidt's district when I wrote my OP
I was surprised to see her return

Then I though about it:

The only way that this is possible after all her bullshit is that too many voters wanted her to be an asshole

4. She is such a scorched-earth monster, a kind of Godzilla stalking those
southern Ohio counties. Pretty scary.

And her constituents, at least a majority of them, seem to think she's appropriate for that job.

You're right. That's the scary part.

7. It provides the voters cover
Those voters who keep re-electing the birthers, the bigots, the racists, are themselves the very same thing. By putting someone like Schmidt or Bachman back into Congress, they get to have their views put into a public forum without having to crawl out from under their rocks.

6. To some extent, Congress is a relfection of the American population...
I believe that people vote for politicians who are most like themselves, or at least hold the same belief systems... for better or worse Congress is (at least partially) a reflection and distillation of America itself.
