Joe Wilson and the Jeeves moment
I have a theory.

Joe Wilson's worst enemies got together and hired Jeeves to
whisper in his ear:

"By all means, sir. The best way to get your infallible
views across would be the 'town hall method'. The crowd will
love you for it. It's colorful and informative at the same
time, with the added advantage of showing this young upstart
his rightful place with a short sharp shock. I would advise it
strongly, though of course it will be your decision. . ."

It appears Obama has accepted the guy's apology with "we
all make mistakes". Ouch, nail meet hammer. I may be a
bad person for saying this, but that fool Wilson made an ass
out of himself right in front of gawd and everybody and I
thought for a moment this has got to be The Onion.

I apologize in advance to the outraged, but sometimes satire
writes itself. I laughed, thought it was funny, and feel a
little guilty about it because the guy is so obviously
deranged and has limited comedic timing.

Flame away, y'all, I still think it almost rose to the level
of a fart joke. Sort of like Joe Wilson his own self.

5. Jeeves and Bertie
Weird it is! Google Wodehouse and Jeeves, or better yet catch Laurie and Frye on the Youtubes.

I can't imagine anyone being as dumb as the Lone Heckler at a great speech. There must be more astute minds guiding this dim bulb from SC.

I used to live in SC and have met a lot of dumb people, also been pretty dumb myself on occasion, but Wilson is the gold medal hands-down winner in the asinine competition. He had to have outside help.

To weird you out a little more, allow me to paraphrase J.P. Donleavy: "he's too stupid to even know what the word 'stupid' means, and if he did it would make him twice as stupid. . ."

Wilson has made history. Stupid cubed.

2. You've captured the essence, but of course Jeeves would never work for Joe Wilson.

3. Sir, you have cast a dastardly aspersion . . .
. . . upon Wooster’s servant.

Aspersions must be carefully groomed, and lobbed underhand, like a bun.

7. Oh, quite the opposite, dear Agatha
Considering the fact that Bertie wasn't even aware that Wooster was short for Worcester and his club was the Drones, I can only hope that in your complacent yet endearing sarcassitude you are admitting that Jeeves was running the show.

Now on to Joe Wilson. Somebody either set that poor fool up for major public jackassery or he really is insane. The man needs help one way or another. I already suggested deportation, but nobody listens to me.

I hope this weirds out our first responder WeDidIt some more, because his or her response was like so totally awesome I had to go straight to the mall and got this really cool blouse that like totally makes me like cooler than Suzy Creamcheeze.

Read more, WeDidIt, it's like totally awesome.

Now some lagniappe, listen if you want:

4. Balderdash. Everyone knows, including dearest auntie, that no one would have allowed
Bertie, with Jeeves in tow, into the House chamber. :D

11. Hey Swamp Guy
It's great hearing from you again, your hiatus did not go unnoticed.

Are you back in Louisiana?

I'm from southern Mississippi, man we got our asses kicked too. Drive hiway 90, Long Beach is fucking gone man, Waveland, Pass Christian, Bay St. Louis. NOLA broke my fucking heart, it was my refuge between studying in Hattiesburg and working summers out of Plaquemines Parish. Shit. It's been 4 fucking years man. NOLA was my fucking island of my questionable sanity. Plaquemines is gone, NOLA sanitized, disneyfied. Fuck it, if I go back anywhere near it, it'll be to Vicksburg, cross the bridge to different galaxies or just go down 61 South.

Check out the first response to my OP, somebody called me weird. Cool. No doubt it's true. Jeeves ain't a household name round there I guess, even though my adolescent American kids are familiar with it thanks to their magnificent dad (me). But that Wilson outburst during the Obama speech is just too funny to let go, he's either an independent lunatic or just a very easily manipulated lunatic. I'm betting on Jeeves.

In closing here's some lagniappe just for you (you probably know it already, but fukkit, it's Aaron Neville and you are obviously under obligation to click, whereas the rest of our dear readers may callously skip over it under their own cognizance):

13. Way'at brah!
:hi: Not all of us were washed away, Aaron's beeootiful voice aside. NOLA is bouncing back, and dey fount out dey could not easily disneyfy us, though dey still tryin' to turn us into McNewOrleansLand.

Been down Hwy 90... know what you mean jelly bean. Spent a lot of time in Waveland, Pass Christian, Bay St. Louis, Ocean Springs, Gautier.... etc. Lot of friends affected in those areas, and most of them gone. And St. Bernard and Plaquemines, still struggling, currently the victims of some of the ABSOLUTELY WORST illegal dumping of hazardous, toxic waste... bet you a crawfish pie someone is dumping as I type this.

:toast:

15. Yat, Swamp man
This ain't no shit. I hope you're back in NOLA fighting the good fight.

Our brethren in Ohio may not quite comprehend this.

NOLA was an island of civilization for me for many a year. I worked in the oilpatch down in Plaquemines to pay for my college, and now Plaquemines is worse off than after Betsy and Camille. Fuck. When I worked inshore, lousy pay, I did get a place at Mr. D's, best place to stay in Buras and he sat your sorry ass down for an interview before letting you in. 12 bux a day, but it beat the shit out of the Holiday Sands, a trailer park 18 bux a day.

I was 19. It was 1979.

Swamp Man, this is for you and only for your consideration, here's a link to me and our clan, and nobody else is invited. This is lagniappe for Swamprat only, I mean it, the rest of you casual readers please just ignore it.

20. Yeah you rite!
:headbang:

I'm sure I've seen y'all, if you ever played on the riverboat 'President' or at Jimmy's on Willow St., for ex... back in da days of The Cold, The Sheiks, Dash Rip Rock, Woodenhead, The Shit Dogs, Crowbar... we had a mishmash of everything mixed in: rock, punk, funk, and just plain weird music... funky outer space blues (for anyone else reading, think Hawkwind with a syncopated, funky bass and back beat). I played gigs is this area but had a few down in Buras, back in the day. ;) The mic stand always came in handy when some of the off-shore workers got a bit rowdy. :D

14. Well, that may very well be, Jeeves
"But must this man Wilson be eviscerated and excoriated, as it were, nailed to the plank and sent adrift?"
"In all honesty, sir, I fear his demise was entirely of his own doing."
"Well in that case, Jeeves, I suppose there's sweet fuck all we can do about it."
"Quite right, sir. Would you care for the usual nightcap, as they call it in the colonies?"
"Right ho, Jeeves, there's the feudal spirit."

I'm still trying to weird out poster no. 1 who called me weird for pointing out that this Wilson character either got punked, is clinically insane or both, and no matter what is in a sad way in his next primaries.

The guy is toast. And it was fucking hilarious. A two-fer. Add the charitable acceptance of Wilson's apology by the Prez, and Wilson can soon enjoy much more time with his family plus a part-time gig at Fox.

Adios, Señor Wilson

And, Fox is becoming the place for the exalted/disgraced luminaries of the right to shine again.

Rove, Gingrich, Santorum...the possibilities suggest no limit, Sir.

17. Wow
I'm scrolling around and all I see here are threads of outrage about that rude little runt Wilson making a damn fool of himself.

It's comedy gold, folks. I wish I'd thought of it, I would have promised his campaign a brazillion dollars and said "Sir, if you wish to make an impression. . .". Of course, I'd make the offer under my pen name Sean O'Reilly.

Obama's public acceptance of the apology was the final nail in Wilson's coffin. Bye, Joe.

Please tell me that Fox and The Usual Suspects are running with this. I'll do my part, go straight to the top, gonna write to Rupert and suggest that Hannity and co keep this story alive, at least till Jon Stewart gets back from vacation. It's got legs, babe! It's hugh, i'm series!!11!!!1!

I only get Fox indirectly here in Yurp, i.e. on the net via KO's Worst Persons awards, so do keep me posted if they actually laud the gentlefool from SC. Any video links will be much appreciated.

Gawd you can't make this shit up.

18. Oops, disregard last post
Keith is already having a field day with it. He just showed a clip of Limbaugh that in essence sez "how dare Wilson apologize without consulting me first?"

I see Sean won gold today. Gotta check this one out before getting to the special comment.

Can't wait to hear what Rachel does with this.

I agree that Obama's measured response only further solidifies Wilson's new public image as the laughingstock.
