Conservatives Rally Around Joe Wilson: "Great American Hero"
Edited on Thu Sep-10-09 11:07 PM by AsahinaKimi
Most lawmakers condemned Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) for his disruptive behavior Wednesday night -- including Wilson himself. But some on the right think he deserves to be rewarded.

The conservative website RedState.com has declared Wilson a "great American hero" for his actions and launched a fundraising effort for the lawmaker. "He gets a drink on me!" wrote founder Erick Erickson. Republican strategist Patrick Ruffini has also been encouraging Republicans to donate to the congressman.

Rob Miller, Wilson's Democratic opponent, has already raised well over a hundred thousand dollars from the incident.

And The Palmetto Scoop, a conservative publication in South Carolina, is giving away free "I'm With Joe Wilson" t-shirts.

1. And if anyone is wondering why he did it
There's your answer.

Yeah he'll be "reprimanded" by his peers. But his fame and fortunes are now assured.

How much does anyone want to bet that one day soon Wilson will have his own show on Faux News?

3. Yep, this was predicted here last night -
it's not surprising. They will rally around anyone who does anything that seems to them to be "breaking Obama."

That they choose as their latest hero a man who is an embarrassment to our country, a vulgarian with no sense of propriety, no respect for the office of the President, no respect for his Commander-in-Chief (Wilson's some kind of reservist, I am told), no respect for his fellow legislators, no respect for the hallowed hall of Congress or the time-honored traditions that are observed therein, and no respect for America - we are today the laughingstock of the world.

They choose as their latest hero someone whose first act after his public shaming was to apologize.

Good to know what their standards are.

They've not traveled far from Joe the Plumber, have they?

11. When rep. king from Iowa said 'terrorists will dance in the street
if Obama is elected' (in March 2008) I saw a similar reaction...and it really opened a door to something ugly
Comments after articles about Obama praised king as a hero, saying things like 'finally someone spoke the truth'...and the number of overtly hateful, nasty comments quadrupled
Naively I expected some public congressional reaction to that comment even though it was just a radio interview. Nothing official but people from both parties saying that was inappropriate, But no.

As more nasty or crazy things are said by officials and even the media who goes insanely far in their smears...it feeds and justifies the right wingers to hate all the more publicly.

There was an article in the nation during the primaries called Smearing Obama

Your 'breaking Obama' reminded me of that. Hating on Obama is like acceptable behavior now. it just grows.
Congress reacts differently (by not reacting at best and silence is taken as tactic agreement), the media reacts differently... disrespecting the president is now just a viewpoint where it use to be shameful

As far as joe the fictional lying plumber...So strange. Not only was Obama's tax plan way better for him to begin with but Obama respectfully answering his questions and comments started him on his weird fame.
The creepy, dishonest and ill informed man became a hero

4. "Great American Hero" - sounds like a fucking Budweiser ad
"Tonight we salute you, Mr Black President Heckler"

( I think they changed those ads to "Real Men of Genius" after 9/11).

The booger eaters are desperate for heroes, huh?
