Is CNN Candy Crowley losing weight
Her face looks a lot thinner. I wonder if she has an illness?

2. How can you tell?
That woman is such a blight, in every way. The hairstyle, which belongs on a much younger woman, is about as embarrassing as Joe Wilson's hissyfit last night.

I think her character shows on her face - pure ugliness...............

9. What sort of hairstyle belongs on a middle aged woman?
Just wondering.

Wouldn't want to gross anyone out.

10. There comes a time in a woman's life,
my very elegant mother told me, when she should not wear her hair in the fashion of young girls. It's not flattering.

My mother's observation was quite correct, in my opinion. Long hair on women of a certain age is decidedly unflattering, with few exceptions. Right now, I cannot think of one, but I'm sure there are.

Just as long-haired boys end up looking better with short hair as they get older, so too do women. That's one of the many things my truly nifty mother passed along to me.

"The hands show age, no matter what the face looks like," was another one she posited.

"Always take your pearls off first, wipe them, and make sure they're back in their silk bag before you take off anything else." A family classic.

Mom knew stuff, bless her heart.

And why would you think your question would gross out anyone? I think it was a perfectly fine question...............................

Although it's probably too late at this point. (Too frizzy and I won't straighten it.)

Here's a 59 year old woman who proves your mother wrong -- her hair is often longer than Crowley's -- but I know a number of others in their 50's.

And what about Jill Biden, who's in her late 50's? Or Vickie Kennedy? Or Diane Keaton?

You get the idea. It's not the hair that makes Crowley so unattractive. It's not even her face -- it's her politics.

(What your mother used to say was common wisdom a few decades ago. My father -- who fancied himself an arbiter of taste -- often said the same thing. That's probably why there are so many elderly women today sporting those short bubble hairdos.)

15. And they probably don't know how to drink coffee either.
They probably gulp it from styrofoam cups instead of resting quietly in a chaise by the window looking over the house gardens while contemplating the backwards ways of little people, and how to fix them.

17. Nice shot at my mother -
she was a great woman, and I loved her very much.

I hope snarking about her pearl advice to me - yes, quoted by me - made you feel good. She was always one for making people feel good..............................

16. Thank you -
the exception - all professionally done - proves the rule.

I agree about Crowley - there is far more to her that's unattractive, but her hairstyle sure doesn't help.

Ultimately, older women with long hair end up looking more like the Cryptkeeper than the movie star you cited. With professional makeup, lighting, and styling, Meryl Streep sure looks good. That's very different from real life.

It's still common wisdom, but some women will continue to work against themselves in the interests of their own personal style, and I say "Hooray!" to that. I enjoy the stories I hear from men buddies who see a woman from behind, looking really good in tight jeans, an almost-Farrah Fawcett 'do, and when she turns around, the guys have to stifle a scream.

To each her own. It's always a fun trip............................

18. What I think doesn't go with older skin
is dyed hair, especially dyed dark hair (blondes can sometimes get away with it because their coloring is already suited to lighter hair).

I know 75% of women disagree with me, but this philosophy saves me plenty of time and money. So does not having to get my hair cut too often. Ladies in previous generations often had their hair "done" on a weekly basis. Horrors!

3. I was thinking the same thing the other night.
The thing that struck me was that her face looks really sunken. Not really like a healthy weight loss, but more like an illness. I hate to wish her ill, so I hope I'm wrong. Interesting to know I'm not the only one who thinks so.

4. She looks thinner but not healthier....very tired.
You never know. When I first got diabetes, I lost weight and was exhausted. Could be anything. Not my favorite person but hope she is okay...unlike Rethugs, we have class here.

just because the MSM is trying to create the news by saying it isn't, doesn't mean they are right.
