Will Harkin steak fry have larger attendance than 912er teabaggers?
The annual Tom Harkin steak fry will be held in Indianola Iowa this Sunday. Thousands of democratic activists will join the senator and special guest Senator Al Franken of Minnesota for a little food and some hard core political talk.
Two years ago as the presidential politics heated up 5,000 or more showed up at the balloon field south of Indianola. Not sure how many will make it this year, but 3,000 is probably a good guess. And like all political gatherings, this is a fund raiser. $30 a pop.
BTW if you wish to look in it will be broadcast live on the web here:

1PM to 4PM central time Sunday Sept. 13th (2PM - 5PM eastern)

3. How about grilled? The term steak fry is used loosely. They are grilled.

5. easy now. It's just a name.
I just think it would be hilarious if the Harkin do outdoes the mighty teeny baggers.

2. As political fundraisers go, this one is one of the least expensive
There is more bang for your buck at this event than most fundraisers.

Usually some pretty big hitters at Harkin's event.

4. The Harkin steak fry is one of the premiere political events in Iowa.
I usually go but will be missing it this year because I'll be in Chicago seeing U2.

7. I went in 2003
It was a great time, in fact I was talking to my wife about it yesterday. Good food, good company and a LOT of Democrats. 7 hour drive from Indianapolis, but well worth the trip. If anyone hasn't been, try to go sometime.
