Are You Happy With Your Health Insurance?
Are You Happy With Your Health Insurance?

Not me.

You know, since I don't actually HAVE any.

I was interested to learn from our illustrious "right" that "the majority of people are very happy with their health insurance".

Huh?

Since I'm not really "completely in touch with the pulse of America" in many respects, we thought we'd just build a quick site with a poll to actually SEE how and what people were doing for health insurance; I don't know, maybe everyone IS happy with their health care.

Anyway, please take a moment to visit and participate in our poll:

http://www.areyouhappywithyourhealthinsurance.org

We made it so you can only vote once per IP address, so while it's "far from scientific" it will keep the voting honest.

2. With a quarter to a third of all claims being denied
and over half of bankruptcies being due to medical emergencies of people who HAD insurance, I have to wonder about that statistic.

4. We've been on Medicare for the last year, but IMO most people
are happy with their ins. until they have to use it. That was my experience. 2 yrs before we went on Medicare I broke my ankle. We had BCBS, and although neither of us had ever used our ins. other than the occasional trip to the local Dr. with a $20 copay. By the time all the bills for my ankle were processed & paid, my OP costs were $3,000! I was shocked because until you use that ins. you have no way to know what that 20% copay on hospital bills and your portion of specialists is going to be.

The last time I was in the hosp. was when I had my 2 boys, and the Dr. told us up front at the first office visit how much the monthly exams & delivery were going to be, and there wre NO COPAYS for the hosp! Total cost with my first son was $250!

Because we were only earning $25,000 a year, we really didn't have a lot of spare cash laying around, and $3,000 was rough to pay.

6. No.
Despite the fact that my generous employer pays 100% of my premium, the crap insurance that the company purchased does not cover my medication, does not cover ANY mental health services at all, and the co-pays are the highest I have ever had.

If I'm run over by a truck or require treatment with a generic drug, I'll be covered (if I can afford the co-pays). For anything else, I'm on my own. Although I imagine that in the unfortunate event of my being run over by a truck, the claim could well be denied if I don't obtain pre-certification for emergency treatment.

7. I have Aetna. I hate having decide if they will pay for something
before doing it. You never know until you get the bill how they will react to any given procedure.

That said, I feel blessed to have it.

14. nobody's happy w. their health insurance -- that's a classic hitler style big lie
Edited on Fri Sep-11-09 02:37 PM by pitohui
if you have insurance, you're afraid to use it, because of all the scams to get your house anyway

i can't tell you how many people i know who HAD/HAVE health insurance who have still gone bankrupt

the only person happy w. their health insurance is some canadian or european who doesn't live here, if they're a usa citizen and they're "happy" w. their health insurance it's because they never used it

the scams are just amazing, example, you're in a hospital w. a doctor who was approved by your insurance and now you're unconscious -- and they slip in an anesthioslogist (can't spell it) who it turns out is NOT on hospital staff and NOT covered by your plan -- so you wake up owing thousands of dollars you weren't told about in advance

another one that happened to hubby's co-worker, they approved the ob/gyn and hospital for his pregnant wife but when she had the baby several months later (babies aren't made and popped out in a day) they had taken that doc/hospital off the plan AND NOT TOLD THEM UNTIL SHE HAD THE FUCKING BABY plus instantly plunging them tens of thousands of dollars in debt EVEN THOUGH WHEN SHE FIRST GOT PG THEY HAD ASKED FOR THE INSURANCE CO. APPROVAL

if you don't have insurance, it's bad, because you don't get any but emergency treatment

however, if you DO have insurance, it's still bad, because you will be robbed for everything you have if they can find any little way

right now, under this system, you own nothing even if you do have insurance, they get it ALL in the end

americans who spend all their money aren't the stupid ones, it's those of us who tried to save and plan for the future who were stupid because we don't get that money, the insurance company gets that money

bitter much? oh, could you tell?
