Breaking MSNBC: Pelosi to hold vote next week whether to censure Wilson.
Edited on Fri Sep-11-09 02:31 PM by Barack_America
Because he is, as of now, refusing to apologize on the House floor.

Wow. I must say that this is surprising news.

Here is a link from The Hill:

Looking for Pelosi's statement...

Edited:
Still looking for Pelosi's statement as though MSNBC used the term "censure", The Hill characterizes the vote as a "resoultion of disapproval".

1. Correct me if I am wrong
But if a member is censured, I think the member has to stand in the well of the House as the censure charges are read by the clerk.

I don't think there has been a censure since Dan Crane in 1983 (no, Newt Gingrich was reprimanded, but not censured).

7. You are correct, but I think this will only be a "vote of disapproval".

4. It sounds like Clyburn is really pushing this...
The Hill article states that he went up to Wilson three times yesterday to demand his apology.

9. Amazingly, it looks like Hoyer took this up, too.
I would never have expected it, but there you go.

11. Yeah, I'm still trying to sort out whether this will be a "censure" as MSNBC stated it...
...or a "reprimand".

Unfortunately, MSNBC didn't give their source, so I'm having a hard time researching it.

Way to go Madam Speaker! :patriot:

12. The vote will never happen.
The Blue Dogs will send a letter to the "leadership" disapproving of this sort of partisan behavior. After that the "leadership" will fold like a cheap lawn chair.

14. It was already off the table once. Now it's back on.
Sounds like Clyburn is not going to let him get away without apologizing to the House.

15. I hope your right.
But my faith in the spine of the Dems has taken quite a few hits in recent past.

13. Who cares, just ignore him. That's the easiest way to let him know he doesn't matter.

16. If House Dems think it sets a bad precedent to allow this to go unchallenged...
Then I support their action.

It sounds like they were demanding he apologize on the floor, which I find a reasonable request, and when he refused they started thinking of a way to force an apology.

18. I think it would be a bad precedent to challenge it. Could have Speaker Bohner censuring members
for not applauding President Palin enough times during her speech one day.
