Landes: No Apology Necessary for Likening White House Tactics To Nazis, Soviets

Valley Democrats demanded a public apology from Del. Steve Landes, R-Weyers Cave, on Thursday after a published news report quoted the delegate comparing tactics by President Barack Obama's White House to those of Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union.

The remarks appear on The Washington Post Web site in a report by Sandhya Somashekhar about Republican concerns.

The demand for an apology comes from Democrat Greg Marrow, who is challenging Landes in the Nov. 3 election. Landes represents the 25th District, which includes a portion of Rockingham County and extends south to take in Waynesboro.

using the phrase 'nazi' under the unprecedented fascism of George W. Bush --whose administration lifted most of their gambits right off the Nazi playbook -- would immediately trigger cries of fouls from the rethug peanut gallery.
